he looks useful alongside a bunch of other good pickups. As rebuilds go we have done well -2016 and 2015.

Even though SPS is a west Aussie he wanted to play his football in melbourne. Logue was rated the best key tall in the draft and we got him, so many people complain that we always draft medium sized mids with our first pick, so when we get the best tall available in the draft people lose their minds that we traded down from 3-7 and missed another medium sized midfielder.

I, for one, welcome our new boofhead overlord. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted boofhead Dockerland personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sol glo caves.

He would never have made the early teens. Here's a crazy idea - let's give a thumbs up to the recruiting team for getting four first 22 players in the door via trading and a gun key position player who hails from WA and a project ruckman may the draft.

The idea that we could have got McCarthy for a pick in the 60s doesn't hold water.

Bizkit, a better argument would be the fact their list management of previous years forced them to overlook these quality mids available at three in order to get Logue and MaCarthy.

Where we are is where we are. They simply had to take this road. I take your point, its a crying shame.

But Johnson and Dawson dont have much time and Mayne and Pav are gone.

As well as defence this pav/Fyfe like dude got 35 possessions at SD in a game as a midfielder last year. He could also keep growing like his uncle Vlahos and eventually replace Sandi - wow what a pickup. Hope I got the Vlahos bit right someone will let me know if I got the wrong player.

I see Logue making his debut in Rd.1 Where had Freo picked someone else, would have had to do his stint with Peel. With the likes of Weller, Langdon,
Blakely and throw in Balic, Tucker and Sheriden, it made no sense in drafting another mid, who might have been a top 20 pick but won't play for a while. The 6 young blokes I've mentioned were top 25-30 picks. They've proven their worth and most if not all will be in our best 22 in 2017 and beyond. IMO or recruiting team deserves a hugh pat on the back.

Key tall is a loose term and I'd see Logue at best as a 3rd tall but more of a running player. He's smaller than Mundy so maybe they're going to attempt to turn him into a midfielder but we'll see. He's in no way jumping ahead of MJ, A Pearce, Collins, Hamling and Dawson to start next season where as a Brodie certainly would be in our best 22 (let alone McLuggage or SPS).

I don't agree with you Hypen, when we traded in 3 KPP over the trade period to address the lack of talls on our list and have declared a rebuild. That trade period was supposed to address the tall deficiency and allow us to choose 'the best available' at the draft. We didn't do that.

The fact we paid more than market price for McCarthy and lost out on McLuggage or SPS turns things into a shamble.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Look it’s folly making any definitive calls on the right/wrong-ness of any draft pick on draft night. Look at the list below of the top draft picks from drafts long enough ago to see a decent amount of their likely worth (given careers will still develop and grow/shrink) and tell me how definitive you would’ve been on each draft night as to who got the best picks…

I seem to remember Freo drafted a guy back in 1999 at pick #4, about 192 cm tall, turned out he could play all over the ground, played something like 350+ games, kicked 700 goals. Goes by the name of Matthew..

Logue has the physique to play just about anywhere on the ground, just like Pav. Can McCluggage play key back or tall?

And maybe I'm reading too many news articles.. But when the article is about him giving answers.. here is SPS's response

Just being honest

Petrevski-Seton is viewed as the most gifted West Australian available in this year's draft and a genuine top-three contender, and the Dockers' struggles this season see them holding pick seven. He is in their thinking. They sent a team of four scouts to Halls Creek – including recruiting manager David Walls and list manager Brad Lloyd – and stayed two nights in the small town. They chatted with Petrevski-Seton's parents and then the teenager, who took them out to local fishing and hunting spots.

"I told them I'd be more than happy to go to Freo. I'd appreciate any opportunity, but I'd love to be drafted by a Melbourne club," he says.

Petrevski-Seton had the same response when the Brisbane Lions recently interviewed him. The Lions recruiters wondered how he'd go living away from Perth. Petrevski-Seton, who grew up barracking for the club, said that wouldn't be an issue – he has lived away from Halls Creek for four years and managed fine. But what most appeals to Petrevski-Seton is playing in a big footy state like Victoria. He knows he doesn't really have any control over where he goes, but wants to be honest when the question is asked.

When someone like Logue repeatedly says they are stoked to be staying in Perth, I will take that over a WA kid who might be more talented, but had his heart set on moving to Victoria..

The comparisons with Pav, give me hope that some common sense has arrived at Freo's draft strategy committee. Logue, like Pav, Mundy and Fyfe has the potential to fill a spot wherever needed. At the moment it is only potential, but no-one saw Pav or Fyfe going to the levels they have on draft day. With respect to Biz, Logue may yet turn out to be the best available of this years draft, SPS, McLuggage and McGrath notwithstanding.
