Logue wouldn't have lasted to the teens Sydney or GC would have picked him after us. Biz we didn't strategically trade down we had to trade down to get a potentially quality key forward who is worth a top ten pick in his own right and who was technically still contracted to another club. Plus we got a second round pick and a late pick as well as Mcarthy just for trading down for 3 to 7 in an awesome even draft. Everyone from experts to average Joe's thinks the McCarthy deal was a good deal except you. Stop whinging and get over it.

We could have had two of Logue/English/SPP/Berry/Battle.

All players who you claim are not worth a top pick in earlier posts Biz. McCarthy and Logue are worth any 3 of those. McLuggage IS a Jeff White risk, Perovski Seton probably would have gone 1 or 2 if Freo had 3 and expressed interest, so I for one am happy with the job done.

I don't believe GC or Sydney would have taken Logue although the Swans would have considered it depending what was available. The McCarthy deal was not a good one and if you ask any recruiter or draft expert whether Logue is in the ball park of McLuggage or SPS they'll give you the same answer. The McCarthy deal looks ok on the outside but when you consider how cheap we should have had McCarthy we lost that deal badly.

I certainly said those players are not worth a top 7 pick Raglan but I had them all in the teens. McCarthy is probably worth a pick in the teens but we could have had him for a pick in the 60's meaning we paid well overs for him. I don't know how Logue isn't worth Logue but I do believe Logue is the best of the 5 I listed although someone like Berry or SPP will have more of an impact.

Worrying about a potential flight risk is silly when considering a top 3 pick. Especially when we do have a good record of player retention. Either way with McLuggage ability we would have been well compensated in 3yrs time, more so if someone with the mindset of our trade team was on the other side of the table.

This guy will be a better player than McGovern, he has a huge tank, good pace and can play in the middle. McGovern was exposed for pace and struggled when he was manned up and not allowed to run free. Logue is a contested ball beast.

Yeah, nah Jebediah. I had Logue around the early teens and rate him the best KPD available, I'm not slandering him and believe he will be a very good player. I don't think we should have taken him where we did though, especially when we previously held pick 3 and the opportunity at McLuggage and SPS who are streets ahead of him. Brodie will have a larger impact at AFL level and with the plethora of KPP's we grabbed in the trade period it makes little sense.

As Shane has alluded to, Freo have overcorrected massively for past sins not drafting any KP talent.
