TOPIC: Zac Clarke

Morgan, I think you are right.
Zac Clarke at times during the disaster that was last season appeared at various times injured, disinterested, and just plain lazy when on field. Then when the writing seemed to be on the wall as to whether or not he would be offered a new contract, his form suddenly improved remarkably.

Perhaps one thing that was learned during the recent trade period is that "contracts are worth nothing", so Bond & Co might actually sign Zac up for whatever years, and then trade him out next year (and thus get something for having developed this player rather than zilch if he were to walk away now).

My 2 cents worth only, but if Zac Clarke applied himself, like really applied himself, he would be a really good player - he's tall, athletic, can run, but we saw the disinterested player this year, the one that was too easily pushed out of a marking or ruck contest, the one that we'd yell at to try harder. My thoughts are if he hasn't signed with FFC by now, then we are clearly playing hard ball with his contract, perhaps with the thought that we'll get another tall from somewhere else, perhaps the draft. Disclaimer: I, like some journo Hacks, have no direct link with anyone in football, I'm just speculating aloud, given what the FFC's intentions about signing Zac, it just seems strange it hasn't happened yet.

You think he bandages his knees to make a fashion statement?

Perhaps Clarke is still away overseas and they're wait for him to be here personally to sign the contract.

The three hardest positions on the ground are small forward, ruck and full back

Give Zac a break he is a decent player

I'm not totally swayed by one tackle, 5 years ago, sans bandages. He's a mobile ruck, but he's clearly not been moving well for many seasons.

Was thinking the same thing Drubbing but he was moving like that throughout the WAFL finals series. If he has turned a corner injuries wise, then he could be on the ntverge of realising the potential he showed in 2011 to 2013. I would like him to be playing for us if that happens. Freo can still delist or trade him in the future if he doesn't.

He's mediocre as a total package.

Which I suppose is better than the next available option which is...well...there isn't one.

Hendrix could be very, very good if he gets his body right. Unfortunately that hasn't happened since 2013 but I don't see any reason why it couldn't next season with some rest and proper rehab of his knees.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Perhaps Zac has been required to play a fair bit, when both he and the club would rather he be resting or rehabbing, over the last couple of years while both Sandi and Griff had more severe injuries?

How about something a little more recent.

I bagged him out this year as well but at the end of the season he had knee surgery to stabilize his knees , I think knowing now he played all year with crook knees the least we can do is stand by him and watch the real Zac come out and play next year.

IMHO this delay is solely due the grey area around the new AFLPA EBA which is still to be signed, as the club don't know what our total player payments will be next year I believe his management has asked for x and the club has agreed subject to tpp being equal to y or greater, clearly if it is less than y they will have to renegotiate x.
