Getting the feeling more and more that, if GWS have not taken him, which seems unlikely... we will take English. Comparisons constant now to Dean Cox but would think major difference is Slime took him in the Rookie Draft and this young fella we will take at pick 7. Interesting piece and vid:

In that case i hope GWS take him, can't see it though, They didn't do all that wheeling and dealing to get up the draft order to pick a long term project player

GWS have Lobb, don't need English

GWS want McGrath and their own top academy pick in Setterfield which is why they wanted pick 2 or 3, so now they get 2 top 10's

Can't see GWS wanting another Lobb type seeing as he has re-signed for another 3 years. And considering they are already developing Flynn and Downie and still have Mumford and Simpson on their list.

If available at 7 Freo will pick English.

My top 7-8 picks

1. Ess - McLuggage
2. GWS - McGrath
3. GC - Bowes (after Bris bid on him - GC to use picks in the teens to pay for this)
4. Bris - Taranto
5. GWS - Setterfield (after GC bid on him)
6. GC - Ainsworth
7. Carl - Brodie
8. GC - SPS (then in 2-3 years time we'll pick him up ......)
9. Freo - English

You made a slight error there stickers, GC will have to use pick 4 or 6 to match pick 3 bid for Bowes, GC will only get 2 players before us one of them being Bowes, also not sure about Brisbane taking Taranto

If you are right and Gold coast pick up SPS and we take English , And as you predict he asks to come home in two to 3 yrs , He will probably play a senior game for Freo before English does .

Saying that SPS will come home in 2-3 years is ridiculous and over-presumptuous unless you know the kid. Pretty sure I heard twomey say on trade radio that he doesn't mind the idea of going interstate and might even prefer it

Yeah - thought GC had other picks before 73 they could use to match

but they can still use 8 or 10 if Bowes goes after pick 4, which means they still have pick 4 and 6 in play before us

If Bowes does go at 3 then pick 6 is gone and SPS slides to us, or they use 8 and 10 to get Bowes so they can still get SPS at 6

SPS coming home in 2-3 yrs was hopeful thinking

Freo has pick 7. And no, they won't pick English. He's not a top 10 draft pick so it'll be a waste. Llyod has gone on record saying that they'll pick the best available. English is not a need at this point in time. We've got Clarke and Apeness, while Griffin has still got a few more years. Sandi going out the door next year, means little.

Our pick 7 will be either Logue/SPS/Taranto.

Developing a ruckman is a tall order, pardon the punt. Zac Clarke has been in the system for 8 years and still struggling to excite us. Apeness is our next up and comer. Look at the Hawks, Sydney, Geelong, they wait until it's time to trade one in. Lobb will come home at some point so will Hogan.

At pick 7, you pick the best available talent and there's plenty better than English at that point in the draft. We've had a great trade period, let's not stuff this draft up.

I agree with you Jezza but the info I have got and posted a couple of weeks ago says that Freo will take English. If SPS slides maybe they will change their minds.

We are all talking about English being a ruckman but he is more than that he can also play as a tall back or forward similar to Rory Lobb that's why he is high up in the draft

He averaged 16 disposals a game this year across a mix of mainly colts and reserves with one league game. Also averaged 20 hit outs a game and seems to tackle quite a bit. I haven't seen him play so couldn't pass judgment but at least he finds the footy. But he needs to put on a heap of weight before he'd play afl. He'd get killed at his current size.

For those that didn't see the spread in The Sunday Times today:

...I am convinced more than ever if he is there at our first pick we are taking him.
