Got to 701 possessions this year which is the equal second best ever with Matthew Boyd and Dane Swan.
The record is 721 for Matthew Boyd.
so 21 to break the record next week.
In what has been a terrible year - we may just get to see another record broken along with the great ones departure.
Well done Lachie! Hopefully a all australian jumper for you this year

I am in the prelim finals in a few AFL fantasy leagues (some with a decent sum of $ on offer)
I need every thing to go right to get through to the GF, so when Franklin was injured in the first 1/4 and only ended up with 30 for the game I thought I was gone.
How fitting that Lachine Neale with 169 points put me right back on track.

Surely he is a certain to get 21+ next week and take the record, he is a dead set champion.

That combined with a possible 700 goals for Pav will make it a day to remember whatever the result.

Unlike most around here, I actually think we will bounce back next year if we can keep the likes of Neale, Sandi, Fyfe, Hill, Mundy, Walters etc on the park for most of the year.

Pathetic comment PM breaking that kind of record at any time would be tough enough, but to do it in a side having such a bad season says so much about Neale, you could not fit it into this thread. He is one bloke who has given his all this season and has never given up. He deserves better than cynical sniping from disgruntled "fans".

Not at all i think most of our blokes have given what they can this season but there are definitely players who have been in and out of the side due to poor form or performance. Neale is not one of them, I think suggesting his efforts this year are meaningless is a very cheap shot, do you disagree?
We have enough crap records why not celebrate something positive for a change?

PM, Rockliffe from Brisbane holds the title for meaningless amount of possessions. Followed closely by Gaff. Matthew Boyd and Dane Swan, are prolific ball players and gatherers. Swan is a Brownlow medalist. For Neale to surpassed both of them with the possession tally is nothing short of sensational. The fact that he's signed with Freo until 2019, is a sign that all the chatter surrounding the club about player rifts is Hackdorn CARP.

Neale has turned the ball over a bit this year, among his record possessions, but so have Mundy and Hill, 2 other elite users of the ball. Some of that is attributed to extra pressure from the 3 or 4 players who were hanging off Fyfe for the last 2 years now having the freedom to pressure other players, and some to the players being kicked to not being up to AwFL level yet (or anymore or ever). The effect of the injury on Fyfe is underestimated in what flows on to our other midfielders, and it won't be until we see him back at his best that some will realise this. It is almost the reverse of the "kick it to Pav even though he has 3 or 4 players on him"

Funnily enough Neale averages less clangers per game (3.7) than the three blokes immediately below him on the 2016 total disposals list, namely Hannebery (3.9), Dangerfield (3.8) and Martin (5).

A stellar season. Will poll well in the Brownlow and if we'd won more games could have come close to winning it. I think Neale and Spurr will fight it out for the Doig.
