I know it's bleeding obvious, but I'm happy to say it: Pav's decision to stay with the club saved it. The fact that he fronted up year after year to chase after a premiership meant that weaker-willed individuals - like me, in case you were wondering - decided to front up and invest emotionally in season-after-season as well. Now that Pav's leaving, there's a huge void, to be sure, but I know it's going to be filled by Fyfe, Bennell, Mundy, et al. Even in this wretched season when hope was lost early on, he gave his all, and while we don't have finals to look forward to, I hope that every Freo member who cares will be at the ground to give him a huge send off.
