no matter how bad it gets, my family and I are staying on board and supporting the team no matter what. Yes its a major disappointment compared to last year. You think the team and coaching staff arent aware of that? If theres a time they need support, its NOW. . . stay loyal, stay proud, stay purple

I can stay loyal and purple but there's nothing to bloody well proud of at the moment when we perform like we are.

Part of the plan this season, alongside the re-stump/re-plumb/re-decorate was a total re-think and re-build of the supporters base. The board decided that after several successful seasons the Fremantle Footy Club had attracted too many Johnny-come-lately fair-weather supporters on the bandwagon.

It was time to purge ourselves of these hangers-on, and get back to a solid hardcore who are the real Freo faithful. And here we still are, unwavering in our loyal commitment to this footy club. We never asked for these lightweights to come along.

If this is as bad as it gets and we're still supporting the club, then I think we can relaxed a little. There's plenty of lessons to be learned in 2016. Normally improvement follows. When Harvey left, there was plenty of doom and gloom. I don't see this as any worse. Though it'll sort out the bandwagoners.

This is as bad as it has ever gotten. Watching the game on replay, after a day watching 10 year olds and 12 year olds play. Over the year they have learnt to get to the footy first and make a contest and stop ball watching. Would be nice if we could say the same about the Dockers.
Hard to see Lobb wanting to come west after that effort.

Surely stay is the default position. It concerns me that you thought about a second option.

I've contacted the club and the enthusiasm engagement team will be stopping by to put you in their cheer van. Your cooperation will be appreciated.

Football supporters are a dying breed. Always be a Cardie & Docker supporter
But with the umps baby sitting Hawthorn in the past couple of years and new rules deliberate out of bounce and the 10m rule rules has me unable to sit and watch games on TV. And if the Gaints win this years flag what does this mean to a supporter of a struggling club outside the VictorIa based AFL industry. Our Grand Final win was At Geelong 2013. Don't think the AFL will send GWS down there this year for a prelim or any other club.

There is a reason my handle on here is bpurpl, it's all I want to be as a footy supporter, I have no second team. I support those wearing the Purple on the field every weekend they play, whether they win or lose or if they're great or crap.
The greatest thing about footy is the ability for the team to come back, to reinvent itself. This season has been heartbreaking but I know we will bounce back there is too much substance to this club for it to stay down for long.
We armchair experts all have our opinions and cures and complaints but I truly feel for those blokes who have played for Freo, for me, for all of us this season. Mainly because when we do have success no one will remember that they kept the club going and took all the crap and rubbish in what will be a shite season.

I don't know if it the comfort of the regular wins in the last few years that leaves me so disappointed this year, in 2001 we cheered every mark and it wasn't a Bronx cheer either.
Is it the fact that I'm now better informed and have an opinion on team selection not available to me before through the introduction of Peel affiliation.
The selection and non selections furthers the conflict of emotions I feel towards underperforming (IMO) players. The loyal and passionate supporter base we built with CC's PR spin and the Harvey rebuild has been tested under the Steve's regime...but Freo is more than a paragraph on a resume for my family and other like minded people I come across in my daily life where being a Freo supporter marks them as a kindred spirit and greater level of understanding and compassion than the supporters of that other mob.

I woke up this morning grumpy, I went down to the shops and unfortunately had the displeasure of Listening to the 'hack' tell us about how he reported the troubles
With the idiots down the road in 2007 like he is reporting our troubles this year and I got angrier, mainly cause he's an idiot,
THEN
I saw Shane's montage.
And I read This post...
Thanks Dockerland.
You know how to be there for those of us who are struggling and know how to put a little smile on my face..
That's what our mighty team has been doing for us for the past 20 years, putting a smile on our faces.
I hate using corporate logos but I am and will forever be a Freo man.......

Eventually
Love the sentiment. I don't have a second team, I bleed purple. I know our boys will rise strongly from this season. Premierships are rare and you need everything to go right, we were close but if you are second that's too bad it doesn't count.
We start the hunt again next year and the funny thing is I feel we are closer now than we were for these last 3 years.

Thanks Pav, you are Freo, it's going to take some adjusting next year but welcome back Nat Fyfe!

The club is great. We are moving in the right direction despite how it looks. Every week we are damaged by our losses. Those blokes on that field are giving it everything and it must be painful to come off a game like that on the weekend and a season like 2016. All freo supporters know about pain. It's part of our dna now, it almost defines us as a club. Know pain, know gain!!! You cannot have the hills without the valleys. I see a cup on the horizon.

We can show just how we feel about our club by turning up next weekend to farewell our greatest ever player.
Pav has given his all to us and we need to say thank you. Regardless of this season, this is so much more than that, we need 42,000+ bums on seats, shouting, cheering, chanting and giving a show like no other club has seen from their supporters!

I don't know about you guys, but I use the club as a mere alibi to get out of the house and drink beer with my mates every fortnight. So long as they play the games, and they sell something approximating beer, I'll turn up.

I only post on Dockerland regularly, and use my name, because it's a deep end-game and I need to cover my tracks.
