Anyone else getting texts from slime supporters claiming that Ballantyne is already wearing blue and gold and that Fyfe is leaving because he wants to go to a team that can win a flag in the next 5 years ( at least the egurl supporters aren't saying that Fyfe is heading their way .. Perhaps subconsciously they know it's not them!) Apparently fyfey wants to play for a Melbourne club !!!!

i feel like this is an April fools gag. Bizarre to say the least, if it is true of course and its out the middle of nowhere. I wonder if the dialogue was something like " if Ballyntyne was to be be considered as trade bait hyperthetically, he would opt to be traded to west coast and stay in Perth". That seems the only way to explain it logically.

Would another club even want ballas? He's slowing down and focused on his ranch. Skilled - yes, liked - no. Im looking foward to him coming out and making the media look like twats... Again.

If you were an AFL player, playing for a Melbourne club makes a lot of sense, particularly if you don't like checking in and TV dinners.

After I picked up my jaw off the floor, thinking about it dispassionately, Ballas
- will be 30 in 2017
- hasn't gotten a decent break from the umps in years

In 2017, we'll have a forward line of Yarran, Bennell, Son Son, Apeness. If we get Cam Mac, where does Ballas fit? Nor has Ballas set the world on fire playing in the midfield (unlike Son Son). You'd think if you could get a decent pick for him right now, that you could use in a trade to another club, wouldn't you take it?

still it makes no sense to suddenly request a trade at the very end of your career. Wouldn't you just hang up the boots. He's a millionaire thanks to his good old Nan, he doesn't need the dough. He'd just go hang out on his little horse farm and adjistment living contently down Mandurah way, Wouldn't he?

Spot on Jooter. He's been told he'll be on the trade table. Unless he comes out and deny this, he's gone. What's he's trade value though?

They've got a lot of you checking under your chairs haven't they? Why is there no article on Sutcliffe wanting out?

We've been smashed by injury, and the only A grade player left on the park who doesn't want out (yet) is the Captain. Cos, you know, no one would go for that BS...

Ballanyne has minimal trade value. The umps hate him, he's perceived as thuggy niggling little agro bastard, he's hitting 30 and he gets injured and suspended too easily. Even if the latter is unwarranted.

He's sounding like a sweet deal eh?

It's been such a disappointing season that I'm happy to see anybody gone if it means we get a young bunch of committed players playing a brand of footy that wins a premiership.
I've lost total faith in culture, loyalty and all that stuff. I have no real attachment to Freo as a club but I dearly want to watch a good footy team again
I've forgotten what Fyfe can do so if he goes in OK with it. The rest have let us down this year so if they go they go.

If it is true, then why has it come out before the end of the season? As if the players need any more disruptions and destabilitation. Sumich - a coach - well that's one thing - but a player? Needless to say there are other players who realistically might be going eg Mayne, but for the sake of the team he'd just be concentrating on finishing the rest of the season and not feeding the speculation.

It really doesn't make sense that Ballas would come out and say this, now, and particularly involving the Eagles of all clubs.

How about a swap - Ballantyne for Eric McKenzie?
