Fyfe has always been professional when speaking about himself or the footy, but I read that as more of a shot across the bows from him... part of a newer breed of young athlete who have a good idea of their own value in the game and how to go about maximising that value. The code has encouraged that thinking by openly aspiring to place itself above others in the market while seeking to emulate an EPL business model, something that was a theme under Demetriou.
Perhaps Shane's right in thinking it's all an orchestrated pitch from FFC and that fits with the seamless on message performances from Freo players in the media over the last 4 years or so but I can't shake the impression that it's also something of a statement from the player himself.
What it all boils down to, of course, is that when you play the game of thrones, you win, or you die.
