TOPIC: The Untouchable

Pretty sure Silvagni played on Kennedy in the Round 20 Derby last year when Dawson and McPharlin both missed and Michael Johnson was back for the first time after 10 weeks. Kennedy didn't kick 7, but he a good day. Same scenario yesterday was the same as it was last year. Silvagni only being back in the side late in the year, having missed most of the year with injury and playing his 2nd game for the season.

Edit: My point being here that Silvagni on Kennedy was (as Donny Rumsfeld would say) a known known.

While talking about Silvagni if he had been played consistantly in 2013 including the grand final instead of Zed freo might have its first premiership now. Was SCOS injured that year or just couldn't get a game?

Silvagni played 10 games that year Doc, while only 6 in the WAFL.

DocD, Slvagni's 2013 season:

2013 Season
1 Hamstring.
2 NEAFL BOG for Claremont with 22 touches and 14 marks. -
3 WAFL Injured an ankle in third quarter for Claremont. -
4 Ankle.
5 WAFL Did his job in defence for Claremont against Peel. -
6 GCS Presented well but more of a decoy for small forwards. 3
7 Coll Provided a mobile target up forward. Wayward goalkicking let him down a touch. 5
8 Syd The only man not to take a mark when subbed out in a dog of a day. 2
9 Melb Played mostly forward and kicked a goal but not overly influential. 4
10 WAFL Quiet for Claremont with just eight possessions. -
11 Ankle.
12 Bris Late inclusion but made no impact in attack and subbed off. 2
13 WAFL Bye. -
14 WAFL 17 disposals for Claremont in the heat of Kununurra. -
15 Senior emergency.
16 WCE Outgunned by Darling. 3
17 Rich Started forward but swung back in the second half. No impact then subbed out. 3
18 Senior emergency.
19 WAFL Good for Claremont in defence with 18 possessions. -
20 GWS Stout in defence and played one of his better games for the season. 6
21 Melb Not a major factor but did what he had to when required. 4
22 Senior emergency.
23 StK Worked hard on Riewoldt to try to secure a finals berth. Borderline. 5

Oddly I thought this was going to be about Sheridan. With Fist out and turnover 33 out the elephant in the room was number 11. I thought he had the best game I have seen Tommy play.

With 2 goals to boot.

Swapping Mayne and Tommy, I thought, was a fantastic idea.

I think Sheridan played a tag on Gaff. That is what the talking heads reckon anyway. Not that I believe anything they say. Do agree it was his best effort for a long time. Mayne should go. He even looked lost and confused when he went back and missed more targets than the much maligned D Pearce.
How long before Walters explodes and gets a 4 or 5 week suspension?

D Pearce is a good player who creates a bit of run, and is one of our better kicks over about 30m. He's also one of the very few players capable of getting on the end of a chain of handballs and kicking it 50m into the forward line. The problem with that is that he's more or less useless at hitting a target over that distance.

He drives me nuts on game day, but the reality is, if there was someone better at it than him in the squad, they would be in the team and we would be using them. I always thought that if Mora came good he would play the same role but better, and we could deploy D Pearce more effectively. Then I thought Bennell would take over the reigns.

But no. We are left with D Pearce. Blame Mora's knees and Bennell's calves.

And Barlow. Just because.

RM everyone looked lost in that second half.

It looked really really bad.

Had to comment on Morgan's post.

Daniel Pierce is a consistently shocking kick and as for his run, he gets easy hand offs in bad positions and then butchers the kick.

As an experienced member of this team, I expect more, but continuously get less from this bloke

Morgan, where on earth could you 'deploy D Pearce more effectively'?

I'd have him running off half-back. His short kicks in the back half are generally accurate, and he's not afraid to take the game on.

It's his hoofs into the 50 that are rubbish.
