Yes, I'd welcome him for the same reason - pace and run, especially at the end of the game.

I know Cyril and Shaun Burgoyne got a lot of the accolades after the Hawks win over Sydney but I thought there would have been no win possible without Brad Hill taking the play on from the mark after a short kick in from behind, where he bounced up to the middle of the ground and created the space for the 2nd last goal of that game.

How is his disposal efficiency generally. I've always thought his vision is pretty good - but that's just an impression from remembering the good things he has done. He burns off an opponent and then can stop and see the inside kick, but I guess its to be seen how much easier it is to make a good decision with the ball with good team structure and teamates providing the options.

I'm not too concerned that he's mostly an outside player, but I don't think he has a left foot and I don't think he's a long kick like Stephen.

Perhaps the only way to get it done is with future draft picks because I can't imagine he's worth less than a 2nd round pick.

We don't need more outside mids, we have an abundance of them in the better Hill, Bennell, D Pearce with his new contract and kids like Weller, Langdon and potentially Petrevski-Seton (which is not to say any of those players can't play inside but Brad can't). We really don't need a middle aged soft outside mid let alone if we are rebuilding.

Since Hill is contracted there's no way the Hawks let him go for nothing and there is no deal we can make that won't take at least a third round draft pick that is wasted on Brad and will be way over what he's worth to us.

I just wish we attacked some key position trade targets the way we seem to go at those we don't need.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I rate Brad Hill quite highly and my guess is that Hawthorn do too.

Perhaps we abandon the strategy of playing key forwards and construct the game plan around fast mid-size players that run. And hopefully have skills.

Part of planning for anything is looking at what resources you have, what you need, and setting the plan using what is available. Setting a game plan that cannot be executed by the players at your disposal is a recipie for failure. We've been there before.

We have to recruit skilful players first. And no one wants to give theirs up. And few seem to want to come here, and travel the country every fortnight.

2013 Rolyball won't work with 2016 rotation limits. So what else should he do?

I know the general consensis is we need KPP's, in particular a big forward, however I beleive we have struggled more with getting it in to targets inside 50 accurately than having forwards there ready to receive the ball.
I am happy to back in the likes of Taberner, Yarran, (*McCarthy and or Hogan), Sandi or Griff, Fyfe (at times) in, with Walters and Ballas cleaning up, for the chance to see what sort of chemistry the Hill Bros can bring.
We already know Stephen is one of our best kicks and if Brad can come close, which I believe he has already shown he can, then I think our current crop of forwards will perform so much better.

Lets make it happen.

I see similarities between Bradley Hill and Lewiis Jetta. Great pace, use the ball well but they are outside running receivers. Yes every side needs them but unless you've got a great tough bunch of inside hard nuts like Hawthorn or Sydney have they get found out.
Craig Bradley made a career of it at Carlton.

I wouldnt be paying anything at all for Bradley Hill or McCarthy. Fredoh, could we not just wait another year (yeah I know that hurts) and get them for free when they come out of contract? We`ve waited 22 yrs we can wait another one to do this properly.

Use our pick number three for the best available player. If that happens to be a tall fine, but if not, go for a gun midfielder with skills and simply play Fyfe forward. Everyone says we have enough mids which we do but we dont have enough mids with the skills we are looking for. Just look at what Walters did today compared with everyone else. He was in a different league. We need at least one more.

We have one of the best key position players in the league in the name of Fyfe already playing for us. He could be a straight swap for Pav. Fyfe could do everything Lynch did today on the Fist. I admit it would be risky not getting another tall but just putting it out there. If its not a quality tall no point getting him.

Our biggest threat is to panic pick, sell the farm for an outside runner and an unproven homesicker who hasnt played for a year and not have a considered longer term view. Everyone we choose should be for a flag tilt in 3 to 4 years. And lets face it, we need a ruckman to win a flag unless we can win it in the next two years whilst Sandi is still with us. So we simply cant afford to waste any picks at all on these trades.

All the tall forwards in the world won't help if opposition backmen are allowed to scrag and hold the way Pav and co have to put up with, the comparison in interpretation of holding the man in a marking contest is at polar opposite each end of the ground at Freo games.
Bizkit, S Hill has been playing, successfully, as an inside mid for a while now, and at the present time is probably our most efficient.

Here's the ultimate paradox of running a "take the best available" drafting strategy. As each year passes and you dont address your specific needs you push yourself further into a corner.

Then one of the best becomes available and you cant take him cause you have so many other holes on your list to address.

List management model - there isnt one.

I think you may be overlooking the fact that some of the holes in the list exist because the fit-for-purpose picks haven't come on for varying reasons. You can just as easily come to that same "paradox" scenario hypen with a more rigidly fit-for-purpose approach too. What you really want is a flexible approach where you can pull the right rein at the right time. Easy.

I did say S Hill could play inside in my earlier post Raglan.

When you name a lineup there are generally 5 midfielders starting in the center. Two outside mids is about right in your best 18 with one or two more elsewhere around the squad whether on the bench or sitting on a flank. We have that position well and truly covered at the moment and then some along with the inside mids like Fyfe, Neale, Mundy and Blakely so S Hill doesn't have to go inside and B Hill wouldn't even get a game.

I don't see B Hill enhancing any of that or even being in our best 22 next season so I don't understand why we'd be interested in throwing away our draft picks which could do that for him. If he's free then sure, add him to the list and see if he can break into the side with his brother but I wouldn't be paying much for him.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

For Hawthorn if it all goes according to plan this year, they win the flag again.
Who will then retire ?
How would Brad Hill fit into those plans? The progression would be to move him inside and let a younger player gain experience in the wings, a bit like Fabio Weller is this year.
Or let him go a year early and get some good compensation for him.
Who do you think had got the best of the Jetta\Sinclair trade between the other mob and Sydney.
