The survey is completely tone deaf, but what would you expect from a “market leader in sports and entertainment insights, strategy and communications”? Did you really expect to complete a survey from these sorts of bozos and expect to feel better about anything?
Freo / Gemba are trying to find out how much money they can squeeze out of people for “game day experiences” not currently available at Subiaco. They would already have data on where people would like to sit, and how much they are prepared to pay for a seat. What they wouldn’t have data for is how much people are prepared to pay for all the other guff. That’s how the survey should have been pitched. I don’t know why they weren’t honest about this, but my guess is they wanted as broad a range of responses as possible, so they know what percentage of fans are chumps.
Fair enough if you are annoyed that you wasted 15 minutes. It’s all a bit cynical if you ask me. But vowing to not renew memberships because someone was asked a question about overpriced membership packages is jumping the gun a bit. It’s like getting mad that taxes are going up when asked in a phone interview how you would feel about taxes going up. People do surveys to glean information that informs policy. Going off about being asked the question seems premature.
The alternative is that the steves don’t ask questions like this. As much as the survey is naff and a bit cynical, I’d rather the steves get that message through the survey process than rely on their own judgment. When people make important decisions based on a whim, you end up with stadiums at Burswood.
