Since the season has gone completely off the rails after very high expectations over the summer and in the interest of settling down what's to come for the ruling classes, I would like to propose that, as a gesture of goodwill to the members, it would be nice if the club refunded the Grand Final Upgrade money back to those chumps who paid it.

Stop this! I'm one those who pays for Grand a Final upgrade. I've done so since it was first offered. Long before there was a realistic expectation of making the Grand Final. It's an act of faith. I actually believe, totally, in the team I support. And because I'm probably a fool.

And I think they offer it to 6,000 members.

So $30 x 6,000 = $180,000

If this money is returned what could the club have used that money for?

Why don't you just suggest a refund of membership fees all together. While you're at it and fees you might have paid in the past for education etc, when things go pear shape. Look, if you feel that you've been stitched up then take your money and go elsewhere. Economics 101. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

There is such a thing as a free lunch. It's called a Grand Final Upgrade fee.

I didn't pay it. I have never paid it. I think it's a con. I just thought that, as a long term effort to retain the goodwill of members who might be starting to reconsider their membership for 2017, it could be a positive move.

People like getting money and it would display that the club are confident they will turn things around quickly and aren't on the verge of becoming desperate beggars who would like to know a place they could buy some cheap tarpaulins.

Of course, you could always subscribe to Jezza's thinking which results in people taking their money elsewhere.
