Ten years ago we could do deals for players whilst anaesthetized, we got them from everywhere. You might argue we gave up too much but that's the trade terms with the club. They still wanted to come.

No-one wants to come to Fremantle anymore, its all got too hard.

Those forward stats make him better value than Mayne or Tabener already. Also he's played exclusively as a backman before being thrown forward that year. And he was an AA.

Without seeing those peer nominations, how many backmen are listed in the top 50 by their peers?

Plus they were done in and Essendon side under all the drug scandal and investigations

CA, actually, I've done a bit of searching and Hooker has never made the top50 as voted by the AFL players ... nor by any other top 50 list I have yet to find. (EDIT: note as posted later, I found a Mark Robinson top 50 for 2015 in which Hooker was his pick 49).

& not sure you can say a $1million per year player in Hooker (and keep in mind $1million wasn't enough to get him to Freo) is better value than Mayne (likely to be on less than $350/yr) or Tabs (likely to be on less than $250k/yr).

Yes, he can be picked in one All Australian team in 2014, as a back pocket. Tahlia and Rance were Full Back and CHB respectively. In 2015, his team mate Hurley was chosen as the CHB and Hooker did not get selected.

I did just find a top50 by Mark Robinson for 2015 in which he had Hooker as number 49 ... he had Hurley as 19.

It is kind of irrelevant how good he is. We were actively trying to get him and failed again. We need to know why players are continually turning our club down when other clubs don't seem to have the same problem.

My initial point about Hooker is ... he's not worth $1million per year.

I'm not trying to make an argument that he's not a quality KP defender, I know he is, ... just the point that for $1million, you deserve the very best defender in the country ... and you need to have your Hooker goggles on to make that argument ... as the evidence I've presented would suggest.

& he's certainly not the best KP Forward in the country ... his Forwards stats are better than Tabs, but not by much;

Taberner's versus Hooker's Forwards stats;
(NB: The stats compare Hookers 10 games forward in 2015, in which the 26yr old Hooker played 90-97% time on ground vs Taberner's top 10 games in terms of TOG, 89-96%, to be fair given Tabs number of subbed games);

Tabs: 133 Disposals (89 kicks), 11 Goals 6 points, 20 tackles, 20 i50s, 62 Contested Possessions, 51 Marks (12 Contested, 12 i50), 7 Goal Assists.

Hooker: 173 Disposals (114 kicks), 20 Goals 19 points, 23 tackles, 19 i50s, 88 Contested Possession, 71 Marks (21 CMs, 26 i50), 1 GA.
