Would think chances are strong now that McCarthy will be "playing" next year again for GWS. Playing is the operative word, how can a young player be expected to put his body on the line for the team when said team has shown they don't care about his wishes. I know it's a ruthless business but me personally I would be doing as much as needed to keep my value up but that would be about it. Don't expect Cam to square one up to the front of the square from boundary-side...I'll be backing him to have the snap over the shoulder next year at GWS.

Ask yourself this question, if Freo had Jeremy Cameron, Boyd and McCarthy and Pav was retired, and GWS offered you two late first round draft picks would you take it?
Im not sure I would. Even if McCarthy was cooling his heels at Peel. The reason GWS are being so bloody minded about the trade is very simple: they don't want to trade him.

Word has it that Macarthy won't be traded to freo. Cameron stated that until Dockerland reaches 40 pages of rumour, innuendo & comments, he is not prepared to even discuss the issue.

I agree Rhufus. The only way I see this happening is by adding a decent player to the equation on top of the picks. Would we be paying overs? Probably. But we are also still in premiership calculation and desperately need him so sometimes you have to pay more than you want to. I haven't really understood why Freo are saying they will only trade picks for Mccarthy unless it is part of a plan.
I think the afl site is probably right though and this trade may be dead in the water. If it happens though by this time tomorrow we will have lost a decent player.

The trouble with that theory, is that GWS have been prepared to trade players to all and sundry, ( even offering take 2 get 2 free type deals to Carlton, wonder how many sets of steak knives SOS has got out of all this) but have refused to deal with Freo, to the extent of putting false rumours of $700k deals about in the media. Funny how McCarthy seems to be the only player they WONT trade.
