If the dockers don't get a tall then this trade period will be a failure. I know Bennell is fantastic but we need a tall desperately!! Tabs and appeness don't cut it sorry to say. I can't believe they will go into the trade period with pick 22 and draft.
Hopefully something gets done either for mc carthy but maybe black.
I simply can't get my head around freo recruiting over the last few years. If they are genuine about winning a flag a forward is required. No more honourable years a flag!!! Still one day to go .

Timmeh, I think you'll find Treloar was out of contract and they basically couldn't give him what he was worth after signing up the likes of Cameron, Shiel and keeping up the Scully payments.

If we get McCarthy great. If we don't, I'm not sure you can blame anyone for sticking to their guns by either keeping a conracted player (GWS), not wanting to pay overs (us) or wanting to come home (CM). If he stays, I hope he continues to play well and be good for us in a couple of years.

We cannot knock Fremantle for not bringing in a proven forwards or defenders they have tried for the last 3 years and the players have knocked them back, and now we finally have got a player who wants to play for us his club will not let him move.

I still reckon it can happen. I wonder if anyone with time and brain power (Fre_DOh) can look at the picks GWS has and who they are looking for in academy picks. Should be able to see what they need to get who they want. If they've already got what they need to get in the academy kids, then we will need to trade a player.

Everybody has a price. If we really need him we will pay overs and be happy with it. If we don't really need him the deal will not get done. It won't be GWS' fault.

Personally though, if all we need is a cracking forward for us to win a flag, then I'm not really convinced that he's the guy we really need.

My intel is that McCarthy could do either a jetta or yarran next year if not traded this year by GWS, its a risky strategy but definately worked for Jetta this year. Lets hope that GWS realise they're in a no win situation and make the deal now rather than in 12 months time.

Get him cheap, or leave him there to do more of an apprenticeship, and then get him even cheaper with experience in 2 years.

If we don't get McCarthy I'll be interested in what happens to him in 2016 at GWS.
He is apparently indispensable to their game plan, or so it seems. He is in their eyes of greater value than Tom Boyd.
If he doesn't get a regular game and is not seen as part of their top 10 or even top 22. Then GWS has duded bpth McCarthy and Freo for arcane reasons about which we can only guess. We offered two first round draft picks - that's Dangerfield territory so McCarthy must be close to the best player in the comp/sarc.
