I think this effectively kills the McCarthy trade. We can now offer 22 and next years first draft pick in whats essentially two shallow drafts.

The only way McCarthy trade would happen is if we gave up some reasonable players to GWS in exchange, as Doggies did last year.

So offer them C Pearce, Crozier, Sutcliffe, Mzungu or De Boer. You need to give up some experience to get what you need, and we need a tall quality forward, those mentioned we can cover as we have an abundance of there type.

At least with Bennell we will see Fyfe spend more time up forward!

We will see Fyfe continue to dominate the inside clearances, only now dishing to Bennell frequently who will tear the grass up and dob it from 50, bypassing the key tall forward (or lack of) althogether.

The great thing about Bennell is he's a number 2 draft pick, will be a 100 gamer next year, Plays outside, inside and across half forward, has kicked 6 goals in a game (92 goals from 81 games), players with an average of 1+ goals per game are very valuable.

Averaging 22 disposals per game and 23.5 for 2015, 3.6 ave Marks and 2.4 tackles per game, 3,7 for both these in 2015.

Pick 16 is worth 1067 points, pick 22 is worth 845 points and pick 35 is worth 522 points.
So, pick 16 + pick 35 = 1589 points.
1589 - 845 = 744 points.
Effectively we have scooped up Bennell for pick 26.

We win this one.

Fingers crossed, but my gut tells me that we have just landed one of the best trades of the century.
I reckon an absolute bargain and I'm looking forward to the welcoming applause that he will get first touch first home game in 2016.

A great deal was made about Harley's off-field issues, yet they still only cost him 4 games in 2015 (two incidents, 1 game for drinking when 5 Gold Coast players were suspended and 3 weeks for a photo of him with white powder in pre-season 2013). I'm more excited than worried about Fremantle Docker Harley Bennell.
Gone to bigfooty where there's fewer Docker Haters.

Bondy blinked first. No one else wanted Bennell, not even the Suns. While he could be a good pickup, it makes getting McCarthy a lot harder. Looks like we might have to rely on Pav to bring out the Zimmer frame.
