I read some reports that harley will end up playing for a Melbourne club, either north or hawks. He will be a very good pick up for freo, will we ever do any good in the trade period? Every year we have players linked to us but never seem to get anyone. We have players on our list we should use as trade bait, deboer, c pearce, mzungu, hannath, clarke, maybe a few more. Its time we start trading aggressively and throw some money around. We should also get rid of chris bond. Whats your opinions?

We need to do whatever it takes to get Benell. I have heard that Fremantle is his first choice.

Here's a couple of reasons PP:

i) Simpson's problems extended to homesickness too, except his was for regional WA.

ii) Bennell is a much greater and proven talent than Simpson

iii) No reason Bennell can't do a 'Walters' and turn his life around and consistently play to the level he is capable of - particularly with the number of indigenous boys around him that Freo has to support and guide him

iv) This is supposedly a shallow draft so what we get at pick 16 or 17 or whatever it ends up as after free agency compensation picks get shunted in before us is not going to be anywhere near his talent and immediate impact.

Sure it's a gamble but I'd rather us try and win a flag in the next year or two than 4-5 when all of AA Johnno, Sandi, Luke, Pav and probably a few others are gone.

Freo are far better at handing out discipline than Gold Coast. Bennell will be told straight up that if he doesn't shape up at freo he'll get the boot, which would cost him his career quite likely. I reckon we should bring him home to a club that could use his talent, and where he knows where he stands on disciplinary issues.
