An AFL game isn't the St James Ethic centre annual conference. In general standards have dropped on a range of issues and the football crowds are a barometer of this. What I can say, having been at both, is the booing of Adam Goodes at the Weagles game was significantly worse than today, and while not condoning what happened today it was in the main mostly self regulated out by the crowd....which was good to see.

As someone else has suggested, I think the booing was the idiots reaction to being told not to do something .

I hate and don't condone the booing of Goodes in general play, but what I was trying to point out that when someone is having a shot at goal there is always booing in an effort to put them off.
In tonight's game there was plenty of booing when Jong was having a shot.

I just don't get these people who continue to boo Goodes after all that's gone on.

I went to see what Richard Hinds had to say. I don't agree with the booing, but is it okay to push this dude under a bus if I see him in the street?

Ticks me off that after Ross and Pav make a clear stand on it the official Twitter account giving match day updates ignores it. That's the absolutely correct place to take a stand as well. The admin of the club need to take a look at how they deal with it too.

I think all the anti booing caused some of it. I saw Goodes get the ball and almost booed (glad I didn't) in instinct as I related Goodes to booing. That being said I was glad that anytime someone booed the guy behind me said stop it loudly.

Don't make the same mistake I did and go reading all the tweets and comments about the booing. I came away feeling totally shamed and embarrassed, but also very, very angry that 'everyone' is lumping us all in together and saying how disgusting Freo fans are.
Maybe I just shouldn't care what other people think, but on this I really do.

We're were in 320. Honestly did not notice any booing of AG. Did notice booing when it came to umpiring decisions - as per the same for most matches. Par for the course.
I love watching the talent of our indigenous players. It's what makes going to the footy so bloody exciting!!

We had some loaded idiots in front of us in 106 boo'ing. Some old ducks told them to give it a rest otherwise they would call security.

That's what it will take. Fans asking other fans to be better. The club/coach/captain making appeals won't help.

Goodes played a very handy game indeed. There was some muted and sporadic boos where I was (block 106), seemed a bit try hard and more trying to prove a point but definitely lacked any gusto. Couldn't exactly say how many Dockers fans were doing it but there were a few. There was also plenty of pointed clapping and cheering of Goodes too from Dockers fans whenever he got the ball as a it of an antidote.

(Just saw your post craptacular, didn't seem that loud to me, what row were you in?)

No booing in 133, heard a bit around the ground, but fairly muted. Still disappointing though, but when you have 40,000 people in one place a few idiots are to be expected.
The empty vessel makes the loudest noise as they say.

I'd love to think that the booing wasn't audible to Adam Goodes, but I know that's not really the case, and that means it was loud enough to hurt, as the booers wanted. I am so ashamed I have tweeted an apology to Adam Goodes. And I know that this can become boring, but I'm not an incredibly courageous and talented indigenous player whose people have been marginalised for 200+ years, and I haven't been made Australian of the Year. I am also not being made to 'pay' for that by scum who think I, and by proxy my people, are not worthy. I can only begin to think how Goodes, his family and all indigenous people must feel about this lack of respect. Ok, thanks for listening, I feel a bit better for venting. Off the soap box.

I thought the booing was a remnant more than anything. Almost a sarcastic muffle. Definitely didn't put him off his game like it was intended in the Eagles clash.

I'm sure he'll be more worried if they end up returning in a couple of weeks to face the feral supporters.
