Stats - don't shy Biz away from it Morgan, it's actually quite revealing.
So, at 22 Tabs has kicked 21 goals? Hopeless!
Mikey had kicked 82 goals by the time he turned 22, and he never had midfielders kicking the ball in to him all game. So why would you wait? Waiting is pointless - that's a 61 goal difference - are you willing to sacrifice 61 goals (for those without a calculator, that's 366 points on the bloody board) just so you can have some big bohunk in the forward 50 when you can draft another Mike Walters at pick 51 and pay the kid $50k a year to do it!

What's the matter with people?

Folks you have missed the point completely, it would not matter if he was 50 now, he has only played 26 games in three seasons. If you're going to compare him to Walters then here are the facts. In Walters first three seasons he kicked 14 goals having played less than 20 games in those three seasons. In his fourth season he was sent back to the Swans to sort himself out. When he came back in round 12 of that year he kicked 22 goals for the season and became the player he is now. He is not a key forward he is a crumbing forward who can play up the ground if required. It took Walters into his fifth season to reach 26 AFL games which means he had a lot more time in the system to develop. No one here disputes that talls take longer to develop which is why in my stats I compared apples with apples as much as possible. I know players are asked to have more than one role now but the players I have named are primarily relied upon to score as tall options forward. The whole point is the quicker you get senior games into developing key position players the quicker they develop.

Age is a much better indication than games played. It's not as if those players are doing nothing when they aren't getting AFL games.

The intention of the comparison was to say Tabs stacks up well against all those other KPF early but the measurement used wasn't accurate imo when Tabs is older and more developed than all those others in the comparison. When Tabs has come in as a mature and fully developed KPF due to being a little older where as most others were skinny 18/19yo's it doesn't present a fair or balanced comparison. Tabs is effectively in his 4th year (22) but those in the comparison would almost all have achieved that games mark in their second season by the age of 20.

Tabs may become a decent KPF in time but I don't think he has the development in him to be a player on par with any of those on that list. Here's hoping I'm wrong and he does though.

I wouldn't have a problem adding Schultz to our list but there's no way we should pay overs for him, which makes me wonder why he wouldn't just stay at Port.

If schulz stays at Port and they get another gun forward, his chances of playing senior football become slim. At Freo particularly if Pav retires he would get much better opportunity
Last word from me on Tabs, none of those players listed played 26 games before their third season and some took their fourth or fifth season ( Schulz and Dixon for example ). Most were 21 plus when they hit that milestone so its not like Tabs has had 4 years running around the WAFL and then started his AFL career. The fourth season for just about all on that list is the breakout year where they start kicking 20 and 30 plus goals in a season.
