Dawson's elbow could have been construed as wayward, as opposed to malicious. What Dawson's head thought of all that is another matter.
SCOS ran up to a bloke 50m away from play and whacked the bejabbers out of him.

It's a little bit hard to find an excuse for that. If someone had done it to a Freo player, you'd want them to get the same.

Silvani is following/trailling his man Lycett - the Eagle changes direction and lowers his body to initiate contact to Silvani.

* lets get one thing clear here the incident took place on the wing.
The ball was at the city end goals approx 100m away. Silvani should not have expected contact, which under the laws of the game is prohibited.

Look I'm all for players getting a fair go. Ive watched this video over and over. Yes, agreed Scos had a brain snap but hey, the job of a defence lawyer is to get the best deal for Freo. Watch how Cripps tries to block Silvani. If ever there was a case to defend to get a reduced "sentence" it was this one!!

As said before, you can follow the tribunal live on the AFL site. Just thought I'd provide commentary:

The spin started last night on 6PR with at least three callers to the sports programme citing (without any evidence) that "Suban has a habit of putting his elbow on players' necks". Brad and Karl dismiss these ideas, not as forcefully as we would have liked, but did mention that this type of 'provocation' was not relevant to the charge of biting.

BTW, apart from the 'he's a jolly good fellow' routine spouted by Weagles cronies, people on the radio are saying that it is physically impossible to bite with a mouthguard in your mouth. Bulldust. Try it sometime. You can bite with a mouthguard in your mouth because most mouthguards only cover the top set of teeth.

You can't say SCOS didn't expect contact. That sort of contact happens 100 times a game and a lot of the time it's our blokes doing it. The players expect that sort of contact for every minute of the game.

He was getting torched by Kennedy, he was angry, he did something stupid and now has to pay the (fair) penalty.

All I learnt from SCOS's case is that we want to present him as a person of poor character. If the best we can do is role out (conflict of interest) Rosich as a character reference, then we have only succeeded in making him appear to be light on for supporters. They may as well have put forward SCOS's mum. A Yr 12 Law class could have done a better job than FFC.

I can see Masten's case going pear-shaped against us - Suban put his arm in Masten's mouth? Suban grabbed Masten round the neck & face (well, that never happens on a footy field does it?) and he had no option but to open his mouth to say 'please go away'?
