With 4 weeks out from the finals, and both Pav and Mundy, 2 of 12 players who have played every game, I'd say their bodies are on the cusp of breaking down. So if there are and it appears to be genuine, then put them on ice. ( and I don't mean the street stuff). Both Fyfe and Johnno will play, and it's time to blood another debutant. The result won't change. Freo by 18+.

There's an extreme whiff of some variety of shenanigans wafting through this. How often would a coach have no inkling of what two his most prized players were having scans on? I would say though, it's more likely they will play if the scans are bona fide.

This isn't just a home game, it's the Derby - anyone who thinks this doesn't mean anything was born/raised/educated on the bloody moon.

Both Pav and Mundy have looked/been spectacular this year - you break that rhythm, you interrupt that momentum, you're flirting with disaster. In my view, if you're getting $800k + a year, you pull your weight more than a Lee Spurr, a Clancee Pearce, a Garrick Ibbotson.

Put them both in, let's pound those b$#&ards up the road (and move on).

I've watched the replay and both looked in fine fettle towards the end of the game, no ice packs, no treatment by docs etc. They've both played all 18 games, not to mention, pre-season games. If everything goes to plan, minimum of 3 finals (GF inc). So it's paramount that they're managed. So I'm tipping that both will play no more than 2 of the last 4 H&A.

Wow... if conclusions were cliffs and you lot were lemmings there'd be a lemming meringue down there.

But let's play a speculation game, for the sheer madeyes fun of it.

Let's say you've been forced through circumstance to play a few guys more than you would have liked.
Let's imagine you had a game at ES where the ground is acknowledged as a problem and has been the subject of claims in the past about causing stiffness and soreness for weeks after playing on it.
Let's extrapolate a theory about potential finals' candidates that you might want to keep in the dark about some things you're trying to hide.
Let's seriously consider a reality where the derby really is just another game in the season for 4 points and you're already 10 points up with buggerall left to play for.
Let's imagine you might have an idea about winning a game that doesn't have to include a couple of blokes who really could do with a rest and a month out is a better time to do that than a week out because you really do want to hit the finals at full speed and score that week's rest with no lingering doubts over the amont of game time you've managed to get into everyone by then, including rest.

Crazy, eh?

Here's another crazy thought , after over coming many weeks of wet games and short breaks the team finally hit a few targets and got back to blowing sides away then putting the cue in the rack. RL said too much in presser and now suddenly "potential" scans justify the shutdown tactics on a "hard" surface for the last 1/3 of the STK game? Now whether they play or not it reads better and adds up to managing the list. As if RL would not know if they had possible significant injury and scans:) right up there with commenting on the GWS coach approaching the umps RL simply underlining what a professional he has been coping the rubbish we have had from umps at times. He is a master class and this year has a flavor of Bart Cummings and Rogan Josh about it!!!!

I get the feeling some people are forgetting the importance of a Top 2 position and Freo have not yet locked that in.

Freo are really only 2 games clear and still have reasonably difficult games vs The Slime, Norths and Port (plus R22 at home vs Melbourne).

So why would you consider resting players now? If the players are genuinely injured then fine, but resting when Top 2 is still up for grabs bewilders me.

Absolutely lock in Top 2 and then rest players in the last one or two weeks of the H&A, if you think it is of any advantage.
