So, here's the thing. Jason Misfud, an AFL Indigenous liaison, has encouraged AFL Indigenous players to do the Goodes's spear* dance this weekend. And if one of our Freo players did it, I would sincerely hope that the Freo crowd would show up the class-less Slime crowds and celebrate the act. I'm more than hopeful that we would, cause surely we are better than them.

Can we please get over the war dance thing. I’m amazed that people refer to it a provocative or a boastful action when all I can see is a celebration.
I keep hearing WC supporters ranting on about how it is an act of aggression or violence which is akin to inciting violence which seems to justify their actions.
Wonder if a white fella would get the same reaction for pretending to throw a spear? I think we all know the answer to that one. That people so thin skinned or precious that they are offended by such actions keeps amazing me but when you realise it is another, thinly guised form racism my amazement moves to despair. Why do they keep phoning radio stations to spout this crap!
I always wondered what happened to the average village idiot? It appears they moved to Perth and were issued with Slime memberships! Now we just need to figure out how to keep them away from phones.
Keep talking about it and things will get better. Keep it swept under a blue and yellow rug and nothing changes.

I am pretty sure they would have been fined by the AFL as a number of players have been fined for actions towards the crowd.maybe not atm though.

Also this isn't a WCE crowd issue it has been happening at all grounds and if it was freo playing sydney last week it would be freo supporters defending themselves claiming we are not all racist.

Danyle Pearce should have been fined.
A couple of his celebrations following a goal have been a bit much. That high stepping action with a clear unadulterated cheesy grin on his face - there is no place for that sort of thing in our game.

Provocative, well big deal. I can imagine the Carlton supporters booing him but why everyone else?
Akermanis was provocative, Mark Jacko Jackson was provactive, Boooomer Harvey is provocative. I don't see or remember every team in the league booing them to this extent.
I don't particularly like Tomic and Kyrios and find them provocative, so does that mean I'm obliged to constantly boo them?

In any case, there was no naiveté about the possiblity of a reaction. As you say, it was deliberately provocative.

How each of us honkies react to it says a lot about us, and very little about the provocative dance. I don't feel threatened by a display of indigenous pride personally, but maybe that's just me.

Dazelle you are drawing a verrrry long bow to claim that Freo supporters would undertake a sustained campaign of booing against anyone for any reason other than kneeing Fyfe or elbowing Pav. I have sat in the crowd at Freo games, and I do not believe you can substantiate your claim that Freo supporters are inherently racist. Sure there may be a small minority who will voice unsavoury opinions, and boo someone simply for their stand on racism. I think the people sitting around them however would soon tell them to sit down and shut up or get out of the ground. They would not join in the booing as has happened last week. Prove me wrong if you can.

I spoke to a mate who follows the slime this morning, and he found the crowd behaviour near him appalling. Said he wished he'd thought of clapping whenever Goodes got the ball. There are lots of good people out there.
