What I like most about the location, illustrated beautifully by that photo, is that it will constantly be a reminder to the players of man's ability to generate electricity.

The electromagnetic field will either very very slightly raise their likelihood of getting certain forms of tumors or give them superpowers.

If not the power lines then radioactive mosquito bites are sure to give them superpowers (or some sort of horrible blood disease).

Pessimists. If you look at the artists impression, you'll see all the power lines will be gone when it's finished.

I like the Jacarandas in the artists impression. The ground will be a sea of purple...in late November.

Why is the window design based on the weagles logo!!!!
Also the carpark is facing the wrong way, no way of pulling the ute up to the fence

I like how you can see the ocean from that image. It's important that a team named after a Port town and dock workers trains at a place where, from the right angle, it almost doesn't seem like it's 12km to the coast.

I think the artist might have been told the oval was being built at Manning Park.

Artists are useless at impressions. Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon doing Michael Caine - that's an impression.

The good people of Spearwood might be worried to see that Phase 2 seems to include sinking their entire suburb into the ocean..

On a serious note - has there been any discussion around the oval design. I really hope someone has the brains to exactly replicate the dimensions and shape of the MCG. Surely it makes sense to be practicing and training on a replica of the one ground that counts the most? (of course a giant wind, snow and torrential rain machine will help with replicating conditions - and it looks like powering such a machine will be no problem)

I would like to see more creatures of the forest roaming through the artists impressions and small trained birds carrying the players jumpers to them as they arrive for training. If only their we could see the chaps with black hoods and AK 47s standing just out of shot organising that work party in the first photo. Perhaps they will blow up the electrical pylons?

Paul, they thought of that. The public justification for moving from the place the team is named after was that they could get two ovals at Cockburn, one with the dimensions of the MCG. Obviuously witches hats are so passe.

Of course, the real reason was so they could scam various levels of Government and the good people of Cockburn to foot the bill. Say what you will about the advertising blokes running the club - they know a free lunch when they see one.
