Corporal Agarn
Sam Mitchell has made a post match apology after he made a feigned injection motion against Essendon today.

Mitchell was 'naive and idiotic': Hird.

Obviously arranging for the injection of your players with some dodgy stuff by an even dodgier quack doesn’t fall into that category.

Mitchell has nothing to apologise for. Making fun of Essendon's actual behaviour is fine.

He was very mean to those Essendon players and should have to write a hundred times on the blackboard, Don't be nasty to cheats.

Some years ago, me and my dad used to go to watch the Padres at Petco Park (standing room section right on the 3rd base line for 5 bucks - take note AFL) and one day when the SF Giants were in town and Barry Bonds was in Left Field, some blokes in our section floated a giant inflated syringe out that landed right at his feet.
So suck it up Peptides - until you come clean your club will have no respect.

Mitchell makes a gesture pretending to inject and is told he must apologise. I may have forgotten, but throughout the whole sordid saga I struggle to remember any apology from Essendon. Oh, the irony.

He voluntarily made an apology to football. It wasn't to Essendon an it wasn't forced .

I am honestly surprised it has taken this long, and I wouldn't have credited the insightful gesture reminding the Dons players to shut the [email protected]## up, reminding them in the process that just turning up in a guernsey doesn't automatically equate with equality and respect, to come from Sam Mitchell. Good on him.
As for Hird, well the product had not been deemed fit for human consumption - nobody mentioned flawless AFL-anointed Gods. The only thing more impressive than Hird's hair, is his Toilet-like sense of self-importance.

Amazing that Mitchell is somehow the villain in this thing.

Full marks to whoever is pulling the PR strings at Essendon.

I'm sure now that Hird has made his thoughts on the matter clear, no one will ever make an injecting motion again.

"Naive and idiotic" was quoted as...... oh wait, that was Hird's description of Mitchell. Vice versa would have been far more appropriate.

Forget Hird and his hissy fit, it was a dumb thing to do. Never a good look, anywhere. A mate who follows the Hawks fanatically thought he'd go over it and when he showed me I thought so, too. It's all about image and messages, on field.

Corporal Agarn
Guy, are you saying that the whole thing was wrong, the verbal message, the visual or what?

I think Mitchell finally did something (some sort of sarcastic gesture on field) that 90% of the sporting public have been expecting and wanting for the last few years.

IMO nothing to apologise for - apart from trying to escape an AFL fine from an administration trying desperately to make the whole reprehensible saga "disappear" without impacting too much on one of the big, favoured Vic clubs.
