TOPIC: What I learnt: Round 13

Walter the baker What I learnt: Round 13 8 years 9 months ago #1

I'm posting very early this week as all the good bits have happened plus I'm about to start a drive across the Nullarbor (long story) so I don't know when I'll next have reception.

-In addition to Anchor's comment in his 5 yr post, I have to agree about the warm ups. They take way too long. I like how rugby and soccer players take a couple of minutes to get ready to start
- we are two games clear but not playing at our best . I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a worry.
- Collingwood will be there abouts over the coming years.
- Buddy will test the MRP. He could receive anything from a reprimand to 4 weeks.
- yet again, Fyfe was Fyfe
- it's a bloody long drive to Melbourne.

i. Umpires should be taught that a distance of 15 metres is equivalent to laying Sandi on the ground end to end 7.1 times, whereas laying Ballas end to end 7.1 times only gives a distance equivalent to 12 metres. I think they were using the Ballas standard on Thursday night.
ii. Subi Oval has an appallingly bad record of showing on-screen goal replays. For the price we pay for seats we deserve much better.
iii. Fireworks on both sides of the ground was fantastic!
iv. There's not much separating the talent of Fyfe and Pendlebury, but Fyfe has been consistently good across the season
v. Winning a tight game is very satisfying, but after being at Gold Coast R11 and Subi R12 has been a bit stress-inducing 7 points each time.
vi. Thursday night footy sucks, but its tolerable if we win - stuffs up a weekend totally if you lose
vii. Thank you Richmond (no, not you Shane) for seeing off the Swans

Think the extra fireworks were left over from the planned Richmond win.

Watch out if we ever suffer a long losing streak, the eventual win will burn half of Subiaco down.

Freo is not at their best but can still find a way to win... Can only get better.
Interested to see if the MRP will take a look at Ballas trip in the last quarter.

The fireworks are still the worst idea since the Eagles SGIO song.

We already have Fyfe and Walters. The crowd doesn't need any marketing-induced excitement.

West Coast and Sydney are three times better at losing than us.

Agreed - there should be an emphysema alert on every ticket. But seeing Michael emerge from the smoke and put one through the bigs off the wrong boot was better than anything GoT could come up with.

It can't be good for a footballer to be gasping in that smoke every fortnight for 6 months.

The internet tells me that regular exposure to fireworks can have an effect on your thyroid gland. Now I'm not a scientist but I understand that a thyroid gland is useful when you're playing football. Seems stupid spending 24 million dollars on a football department and then sending your players into a toxic cloud to play football.

Probably not worth worrying too much about the fireworks haze when you're moving your training facilities to Cockburn

Shane you haven't been keeping up with the play have you? All those USA sprinters that train with that fella Lazarus end up getting diagnosed with thyroid problems, and have to take some medication that turns out to be performance enhancing if you don't have a thyroid problem. The Steves are staying one step ahead of the game. Oh I think some of the boys will also be getting asthmatic from all that smoke.

i. Relying on Telstra reception sucks
ii. I can't wait to watch the game to know if we won.
iii I can't understand all the negativity
iv There should be seperate MVP votes for Fyfe so others get a chance
v Ibbottson is solid as,
vi So is Clancy Pearce
vii Thought the smoke had cleared the field, just obscured the television cameras, (& Pollys) sitting higher up the stands.
