I know. He's already opened with an offer to trade Clarke and Crowley for it...

Zach Dawson and our two 1st picks for Charlie Dixon.

Pick one as compensation for losing Dixon and pick 2 as compensation for gaining Dawson.

Not to bring EPL in to discussion, but here's hoping our due diligence is on par with the great Roy Keane as quoted from his autobiography.

On his criteria for signing – or not signing – players:

" "Robbie [Savage] wasn't in the Blackburn team and I asked Mark Hughes if we could try to arrange a deal. Sparky gave me permission to give him a call.

"So I got Robbie's mobile number and rang him. It went to his voicemail: 'Hi, it's Robbie – whazzup!' like the Budweiser ad. I never called him back. I thought: 'I can't be f---ing signing that.'" "

So we don't get Charles, Pav retires with a premiership at the end of this year and our small forward line turns into an even smaller forward line staffed with some tall skinny blokes still learning their craft. Apparentlly all the talls except for a backman are crap in the draft (why are we guarding our picks then). Brace for hard times ahead and even more gnashing of teeth and woh is us wailing in 2016.

Corporal - Ricky Cary is essentially a mature age rookie now. He started late and is turning 24 later in the year. I have been watching him closely the last few years initially thinking the same thing. He is 196cm but can be easily pushed off the contest although is reasonably strong overhead. His second efforts can be very average and this has seen him playing in the twos along with a few undisciplined things. There is a big gap between his best and worst and the scoreboard seems to be a factor in his effort.
I couldnt see him playing an AFL game esp as I cant see him putting on too much more weight but in terms of games hes still young.
Its funny how the draft works - Im positive Notte, Riggio, Ugle and Davis are far better players now than when they were on AFL lists.
There is a few other gems at the Black Ducks however esp a few indigenous boys with good size and why Alex Howard is not on a AFL rookie list still baffles me.

Key forwards do somewhat require the midfield to get the ball into the forward line if they are to kick goals.

Unfortunately, Ricky Carey can:
A) mark the ball;
B) kick goals.
It kind of makes him ineligible for us, doesn't it?

Let me be the first to wish Charlie a long and successful career with the Lions.

$6 million for 5 years! The lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum.

One of the major areas of interest around the QClash is the future of Suns forward Dixon who has received a five year, $6 million offer from the Lions whose interest was ignited when he tore them apart in this season’s first derby.

Its going to be a tough trade. There is zero chance that Brisbane would relinquish pick 1 or 2 for Dixon. Weitering and Schache are generational players and you simply must take them if you can.
There could be a bit of old fashion tanking going on in the coming weeks

I've had time to digest this whole Dixon trade. I'm prepared to concede that he's not worth the $$$. So here's my solution. Let's throw the kitchen sink at Hogan. He may be signed up, but so was Tom Boyd. And as a sweetner, offer Melbourne Mundy and our first round draft pick. Thoughts.

How could you tell if Brisbane were tanking?

I acknowledge it is tough Shane but Dayne Beams will be the first of many to go in for season ending surgery

If we want Jesse Hogan Mundy is not going to get the deal done, and Melbourne is already fush with young guys so our late draft picks wont be that attractive to them. Also Hogan is at the start of his career and Mundy has probably two seasons left, Melbourne will take at least another four years to be any good. They will want a player who has at least that many years preferably six or seven playing years left. I am pretty sure Mundy would not want to go to a club that is struggling as he has been through that before, he is just as likely to retire if he is offered for trade (to a rubbish club). The midfield is where they need strengthening so wee look at the massive number of mid's we have and offer two or three. The other way to get Hogan may be in some sort of three way deal between clubs but we would need to go in hard and know exactly what we were prepared to offer.
The final word on Mundy is he deserves to leave our club on his terms, he has been courted by many clubs over his career and stayed loyal. He deserves better than being sent off as trade bait especially when it looks like we are in a period of sustained success.
