Noddy, if we were to trade for Dixon it would require one of the following scenarios.

i. We give them Hill as a direct swap.
ii. We give them Neale + our 2nd round pick (possibly 1st round pick).
iii. We give them Clarke + our first round pick + Suban / de Boer / Crozier / Sheridan.

These are the minimum requirements for such a trade.

(Brisbane will have a top 3 pick to offer).

Yes very interested but not the first 2 options. Clarke is our bargaining chip. He will likely prefer
a trade back to Vic so trade him for the best offer from a Vic team. Hopefully a mid to late first round pick (we got pick 24 for Warnock). On trade with our last pick in the first round and fringe player if needed.

I rated Dixon previously so would be happy to do this deal but he has had a lot of issues this season which has turned me off him, not least of all his attitude on field this season. Has spent a lot of time going for cheap hits and the man instead of the footy and doing team things which I'm hoping is just because he doesn't want to be at GC anymore.

Having said that we need a KPP and if Dixon is willing to come over then go for it. Just bare in mind what it will cost in players/picks. Happy to trade away our first pick as it'll effectively be a second rounder but dunno about the quality of player they'd want.

A pick is effectively a player, so Option (iii) is seriously over the odds (trade 3 players for one in return) and sounds like what was done to get Josh Carr.

The other two options also suck, so forget it and let Dixon fight for the wooden spoon at Brisbane.

I'd use Option (iii) to get McCarthy or Hogan + a pick in return, but not for Dixon.

McCarthy is really only a #2 KPF. But he is young and will go for Dixon trade currency.

Suban, de Boer, Clarke and Mayne could be premiership players with a MiIitary Cross (with 3 bars) and it wouldn't be nearly enough.

They are fully exposed foot soldiers who have reached their career ceilings (Clarke may have more to offer, but can't crack the senior team at the moment).

At very best they are worth second round draft picks.

Brisbane will have a top 3 draft pick up their sleeve. They would be reluctant to part with that pick, but this year's draft is considered to be shallow with nary a quality tall to be had (that Schache kid looks the plum 'tall' pick).

If Brisbane are genuinely interested, we will have to offer more than any one of those four players to be in the ballgame. A lot more.

Much better option: younger, injury free, very talented.

Unfortunately, he's contracted, not a free agent, was a first round draft pick in his own right and would be even more expensive than Dixon. He's also very happy where he is.
