FREMANTLE will appoint a high performance manager to oversee Ross Lyon and the club’s coaching team in 2017.

The high performance manager will report to football operations manager Chris Bond.

They extended Ross Lyon's contract a few months ago, with a salary approaching, if not, 7 figures and now they're going to drop someone in to keep an eye on him who will report to Chris Bond.

And they don't see why this is going to go wrong?

An appointment like this - someone who's job will essentially be smoothing ruffled feathers - suggests 2 things:
1) there's an abrasive and possibly confrontational working atmosphere within the footy dept that's probably become counter-productive and
2) there's going to be a whole lot of meetings being held down at Cockburn HQ next year.

Maybe I haven't got this right but are they appointing somebody to do the job that Mr Bond, Chris Bond is currently performing (allegedly) and will be reporting to Mr Bond, Chris Bond?

Pretty soon Mr Bond, Chris Bond will have no role at the club other than have people reporting to him.

It is a sign of an organisation in decline when they have more chiefs than indians or are they just lining up as many layers of plausible deniability to hide behind when we don't play finals again for a few more years

Freo, like a lot of clubs (or companies), pay Leading Teams or their ilk a lot of money to develop the coaching and playing group. Leading Teams seems like a bunch of made-up nonsense to me. It looks as though Freo are simply in-sourcing this role.
