Both Hills have been thrown around in the wider media, and it seems that the Gold Coast interest in Stephen has some merit. Let me say from the get go, I wouldn’t be looking at offloading either but as part of the AFL scenery player movements are common place.
We don’t get any say in Stephen. Two million over three years would be tough to match for a player appearing to have soft tissue issues, and would result in reasonable compensation.
I can’t see Hawthorn chasing Brad to hard, if as reported they are wanting Coniglio. He is a better player than when we got him for pick 23, so would need better compensation than 23.
I suspect that we will again finish short of the eight and receive another top ten pick. If this is the case, and shedding both Brad’s and Stephen’s salaries, we could be in a strong position to secure one or more of Coniglio, Kelly and English.
This could leave our list in a better state than it currently is, if this were to transpire I don’t think we could also lose the pace of Langdon.
Player movement doesn’t necessarily equate to player discontent.
