Tabs has been a work in progress, but last year he presented himself with authority in marking contests and took some leather crunching marks. Looking forward to watching him play this year. Good luck to the opponent playing on him.

Well, it was going to expire after Freo’s last game this season, which means Freo and Tabs needed to agree an extension now, during the season or post-season.

There are risks and benefits to all of those options, but clubs seem to prefer getting it dealt with early. I can see the merit in that.

If you think that’s wrong that’s fine, but you still haven’t said when you’d do it.

I don't think this is a bad thing either, I recon we will see Tabs used up the Wing like Franklin. Good mark, good tank and penetrating kick. So he can give us a get out of Jail mark (Provided we are smart enough to have our ruck on one side of the ground and Tabs on the other). His Turning circle is not the greatest, so marking on the back 50 or near the Wing and wheeling it up to a Lobb / McCarthy/Hoges who then send it into a Forward in the 50 might be a good avenue to get us some goals. If he spills the mark while crushing a pack, the likes of Wilson and the St John of God Ambos can clean up the mess.

You either sign him up now for a fair salary and have some options for the next three years or you risk losing him at the end of the year for no return (especially if opportunities are limited until Sandi moves on). I’ll take the first option.

As an aside, how do his stats stack up against Lobb??

My take is he's developing into an A grader, I saw glimpses of it last year prior to the injury.

And they are locking him away. I made a comment last year that he's not far off Hogan. I'm standing by it.

And I refuse to argue with a person who doesn't rate Blade Runner.

I rate tabs, I think this is a great decision. I think Sandi will be lucky to play a handful of games, and if Hodor goes down I don’t rate our remaining ruckmen. I think our tall forwards will need to cover the ruck.
