I missed the first quarter of the Claremont Peel game yesterday and all of Harley’s contribution.
Matera showed a lot more yesterday than I’d previously witnessed. He started of the back of the square at the centre bounces and appeared to have license to roam at will.
Ballas was in the centre for a while, dropped and easy mark and misjudged a pretty decent i50 offering. The effort was there in patches but it lacked the spark that used to get you excited watching him.
Johno was statesman like, kicked well but his turning circle ain’t what it used to be. He played stints forward and back.
Pearce commanded a lot of the ball to set up play and looked to be enjoying his football, same old no surprises but valuable contribution at WAFL.
Logue was on and off the ground a lot, I missed if he was rotating with someone. He played spare man down back, his kicking has improved. He got to lots of contests and read the play very well.
Hughes looked good but blends in compared to how Logue stands out with his “do” I think he’d be happy with his game but would have wanted more of the ball. Not sure he’s getting to the right places.
Nyhuis alright, did what was wanted. The bigs were ok nothing standout.
What did standout was the Peel listed players played with more cohesion, like team mates.
