I've been avoiding joining this discussion, but two of my favorite games ever occurred in the 2013 finals campaign v Geelong and then Sydney. Maybe it was the situation, storming through the finals, maybe it was the raw emotion, but the pressure we brought to the swans in particular was a sight to behold. That was as good footy as I've seen - if it had been the hawks we were playing that day at Subi, their dynasty would have one less GF appearance. I dare say, if the MCG wasn't the Hawks home ground, then we would've won the GF.
One interesting note in one of the afl highlight reels (think it was the Sydney game), is a comment by one of the commentators: "every Freo player is pointing instructions to their teammates, they are that well drilled". That to me seems the difference between now and then, and it's the same coach.
