Down to their last handful of men, like the fabled 300 Spartans, Fremantle defiantly fought on against the top side to hold them back for three quarters until the battle took it’s toll and they were over run in the last to lose by 18 points. Fremantle were out played but not out classed, dominating the first half and controlling the game to take a 10 point lead into the long change. They let some chances go begging in the third quarter and the Adelaide pitch started to turn, with Port pushing but not managing to over take the stoic Dockers. But things went wrong for Fremantle in the last term, unable to hold Port back any longer and facing an increasingly suspicious group of umpires, they were overrun and went down by 18 points.
Have your say on how the Dockers players performed on the weekend by rating each player from zero to five or just pop in and have a look what everyone else had to say about the team.
Defenders, who needs them. Pretty boys with blonde hair, tight shorts and with ladies queuing up around the corner; leaching off the hard work of their teammates and stealing all the glory. No, wait. That’s the other ones. Bugger. Alex Silvagni is in the team this week. That should be enough to worry any Fremantle supporter, with Ross Lyon’s long standing and strangely specific No Alex Silvangi policy trumping the need to an extra defender but with Luke McPharlin out of the side with busted leg and Zac Dawson out for some reason (it’s best not to ask too many questions in case it turns out he’s ok), Lyon’s hand was forced and SCOS is in for a short stint at full back. Stephen Hill is also back which means that Silvagni might not even get near the football with the Dockers going on the attack. Port have got some handy inclusions in Alipate Carlile, Hamish Hartlett and Kane Mitchell but let’s presume they’ll all lack match fitness.
To save people forking over their hard earned money to the AFL in exchange for a magazine that gets bigger every week, making it harder to get to the only part you actually want - the names of the players, we've introduced the Dockerland Budget.
