Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
It's not a game, a goal or a fantastic comeback, just a moment that bought a smile to my face and our captain's.

We travelled to watch the game against Adelaide (that we won) a couple of years ago. We were sitting behind the goals. A lady sitting next to me yelled out "Nice legs Pav". He turned and smiled.

I complimented her on her taste.

The first Derby of 2006. Playing the unbeaten eagles in front of our home fans the Dockers played Brilliantly all day and thanks to Hase's goal at the end won what is considered the greatest ever derby. Once again it was the blonde south austalian who had the ball at the end and his celebration always brings a smile to my face.

Josh Carr's performance in last years derby. Classic!

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
Same year as the aforementioned Brissy game (2003) but against Adelaide at Subi. We were up by a couple of points with about a minute to go. The ball spills out of a contest is up for grabs in the middle. Three Adelaide players (Riccuito and their ruckman were two of them) were charging for the ball but a little bloke called Peter Bell sprinted into the firing line with no fear, got to the ball first and was subsequently hammered by the three of them who slammed him to the turf. Belly held onto the ball - and we won!!!!

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
it would have to be Quenton Leech's goal after the siren vs brisbane in 1997 or 98, we were down by a rather large halftime deficit, and we worked our way back into the game

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
There are many, but Jeff's 2nd (or was it his 3rd?) dodge, twist, turn, fall, dodge and slam through on the goal line in the city end of Subi against Carlton during his first game back in June 2007 tops them all for me.

Everything was caught up in that effort - every injury, every slight, every injustice, every misunderstanding, every inference that has plagued the Purple Jesus since his return to WA - he fought, dazzled and drove himself to the goal face over/around every hurdle in his way. It was the most remarkable display of 'damn you' determinism that I have ever witnessed (anywhere/anytime/by anybody).

LONG LIVE THE PURPLE JESUS!

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
I can never remember all of my favourite moments because I have an eye for thhe bizarre, the weird and the outrageous... so all of the last 13 1/2 years, really...

but sitting up in the brand new stand at the city end watching us win our first derby was rather good. Particularly the uncomfortable squirming the Chook fanciers in front of me were doing... more and more and more as I became, shall we say it, considerably more unpleasant. They left early, too.

Pav in away Derby (2003?) - Subiaco end, heading for goal, disposed, regained possession and goaled from from outside 50m. The silence around the ground was beautiful - other than from the Freo faithful.

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
Just thought of another one.

Round 22 (final round) 2001 versus Adelaide at Subi.

Saturday night game. We had not won a game at home all year and had won just one for the entire year.

Adelaide were playing for a top 4 spot.

It was raining on and off and it was going to be a formality for the Crows to give us a hiding to round off one of the worst seasons of any team in VFL/AFL history.

About 18,000 people were there - ah the good old days!!

Leading by 3 goals late in the 3rd qurter we were playing out of our skins - but Adelaide were threatening to ruin the party.

Enter Peter Bell. He accepted a hand ball inside the 50 kicking to the Subi end at the 30 minute mark - he nailed it and all 2 of us in block 217 jumped around like it was new years eve.

We went on to win with Daniel Schell kicking a few.

I know we're better off financially now but even though they were dark old days we somehow look back on them with great fondness.

The crowd was slimeless and it was just 'us' - the Freo faithful going along knowing we would lose but just hoping for a miracle.

We got one that night and it was one to savour.

Happy days!

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
The euphoria of Brownie's goal from 137 metres out.

Oh so Essénce du Freo that it is followed by a heart sinker as the ump pays a pissy free kick and disallows it.

It's generally been downhill from there.

At 3/4 time at that Brisbane game in 03 my nephew said to me "if we win...and I corrected him by saying "no, when we win"...

And as for that blonde kid from SA, I wear his number on the back of my jersey!

1997 it was VicDockMember95. I remember it clearly as I was with a bunch of american exchange students I'd converted into freo fans. They were gratifingly extactic.

Memory also suggests it was a blatant shove in the back that enabled leachy to take the mark. :)

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
Gotta go wtih Luke Mcp's mark v Brissy in 03. Had sneaked into the lead at the death, then in our defence..were we going to lose it at the death? And then the screamer! Yeow!! And our 1st ever home win against Geelong- we kicked 3 billion points, and Leigh Wardell-Johnson chipped in with 3 pearler goasl> Ah, we were so young and carefree in those days....

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
In late 2006, just after we absolutely smashed the Weavils by about eleventy squllion goals in the derby, I was chatting to a friend in the pub after the game. It dawned on me at that point that we were going to finish in the top four and we would be just one win away from a Preliminary Final.

It was like we were finally a real team. The ugly duckling had turned into a swan. The catepillar had turned into a beautiful butterfly. A real Cinderalla story.

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
Being there for Gerard Neesham's address at the city end of Subi Oval after his final home game in 1998.

He spoke brilliantly.

It was very emotional and I was so glad I stayed to listen to 'the little general'.

"The strongest iron comes from the hottest furnace" I think he said. He left with dignity and style - thanks Gerard!

I wonder; if he was still coach would we only have won 1 finals game in 13 seasons? Me thinks we would have won more, many more!

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
As bad as it may sound, but I was one of the few Dockers' supporters at the Siren Saga match, and geez it was a ripper. We played superbly and the great man Pav was dominant. The euphoria after the game and the fact that Freo stood up to the AFL was memorable to say the least. I was interviewed by about 30 media outlets when I got off the plane in Melbourne and it was havoc. Coincidently I share the same name as the central umpire who officiated that match.

I've only been to four Subi games, and they were:

Our first final (not so memorable),
Our winning final (bloody awesome),
Mothers Day Massacre (great crowd involvement),
Our derby win this year (hate the Eagles).

Re:What is your all time favourite Freo moment?
Came down from the country with a big group from the boy's Auskick team - it may have been Bulldogs, 199?

Sitting behind the goals, a couple of rows from one of the bigggest 5hit-stirrers in town. She was rabbiting away to a neighbouring gossip. Caught a practice shot footy fair in the chops.

Priceless. Was quiet all game.
