Re:Warnock Trade done
We've uncovered a few gems (Warnock included) down at the lower end of the draft before, so the extra pick is a good result (in comparison to getting nothing).

Would love nothing more than to see our pick 56 develop into a star ruckman and pants Warnock in our first GF win...

Re:Warnock Trade done
Disappointing. We should have at least been able to get their pick 40.

I now officially hate Robert Warnock. Just as bad, if not worse, than Jeff White.

Lovatt didn't get traded...I wonder if it's worth having a go for him in the PSD?

Re:Warnock Trade done
Warnock wouldn't go to Melbourne. I doubt Melbourne even got to the point of being able to offer a trade.

He is an unproven sooky-la-la. Good riddance close the door on your way out. 2nd most hated club = Carlton.

Re:Warnock Trade done
Freo did well on this guys. If you have a look at the other trades we got the highest draft pick swapped and upgraded our 5th (69) pick to a 4th (56) pick as well as another lower 5th pick. Warnock wouldn't have gone to Melbourne no matter what.

Overall I think teams put a much higher premium on Draft picks this year and as such trade volumn was low.

Re:Warnock Trade done
Basically what this means is that Warnock = pick 24 + pick 56. Although this is not perfect it is much better than 24 only or nothing at all. There is good depth in this years draft and 24 and 56 will gives us some quality. I expect we there are young WA based lads that will fit in well to the Dockers line-up at 24 and 56 not to mention even at 72.

Re:Warnock Trade done
As Warnock was out of contract, Carlton always held the upper hand at the negotiating table, particularly as it appears Melbourne were never serious about making an offer of pick 17 or 19.

Probably as good an outcome as Freo could have got.

Re:Warnock Trade done
Rip off - should've arranged a three way or picked up a player with the trade.
