Braved the elements and went to WAFL today - decided to have a look at Luke and Macca's return at Medibank.
Luke looked very, very good - strong and smart, he wouldn't pull out of a tussle and laid some wonderful long kicks forward. Kicked a goal in the first half and was especially good clearing the ball out of the ruck in the second half. Looks the goods (for sure).
Macca was hard at it most of the day - had the muckiest jumper by the end of the first quarter and ran hard all afternoon. In, under, over and along the wing, it was good to see Macca doing the hard yards for the Sharks.
Noakes and Oliver also good for the Royals, Kennedy and McNamara for the Sharks. The most promising game (for Freo apart from those above) was big Calib Mourish. 3 or 4 goals - not sure, maybe more (searching for beer) - but this kid is fantastic in a contested mark and knows how to share the ball around. Heaps of strength and an eye for finding space, he looks like the big improver this year out of any of the Docker hopefuls - built like an upside down triangle.
Sharks ended up whupping East Perth - both Macca (before the game) and Mourish (after the game) made a point of finding Luke and giving him a hug.
Chicken salt clogged (both containers)- burgers so-so.
