So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
With Warnock going to Carlton, I doubt if they'll offer up their 1st Round draft pick. Are there any direct trades that might interest us?

Carlton's playing list.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
If Carlton are anything like the Eagles were with Judd in the side, the talent tails off quite badly. A point I like to think can be proven by their sudden improvement. Something like pick 6 for Warnock and pick 20.

Benjamin and a round 2 pick - keep it simple/swift - or, like Shane says, 1st and 2nd rnd picks.

Obviously Pratt left his cheque book behind - seems to me, with the Fev and Judd salaries over the high water mark, that the Blues are either going to break the salary cap (again) or they have a lot of $30k/year players on their list.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
The Auschtrayan newspaper reckons it will be a three way with Adelaide giving us Jonathon Griffin.

http://www.theaustra...s.com.au/story/0,25197,24331971-2722,00.html

"Griffin was originally recruited from East Fremantle and started with the Crows on their rookie list. He played 28 games over the past two seasons, including 12 matches this year. But after playing the first 10 in succession this season, he did not play a senior game after round 15. "

Doesn't sound like a great swap.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
That sounds like it's the proposal Carlton are tarting about rather than anything resulting in dealings.

If Griffen is keen to get back to WA he has two clubs with high draft picks to play with. If he was considered equal value to Warnock in the market then Colin Young would be playing the same game to push his price up.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
Pollyanna, shane wasnt saying they should give us their 1st and 2nd round picks ( don't be ridiculous ) he was saying we give them Warnock and OUR second round pick for their no. 6 pick.

Which i think is a very fair trade considering who we could get with 6. One of Hurley, Ziebell or Hartlett will still be left.

24 and Armfield or Stephen Browne or another 2nd round.
Can't see them giving up pick 6

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
There's no point offering a bloke a million dollars then pretending he's not worth a decent trade. I don't really see where Carlton have any magic bargaining chips that can get them their way on this one.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
There is no way we will get pick 6 for Robbie alone.
Pick 6 from carlton, our second and Robbie to them would get it done, I think, but we are then in deficit of a pick and we have so many to replace.
If we could get Armfield and their pick 24, it would be reasonably fair...also 2 2nd rounds...that would give us a lot of quality young kids coming in, especially when you also may have a 3rd round pick for Bogan Josh.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
There are still only 22 spots on the ground and I'd back Fremantle to pick 3 good rookies before I would a good second round draft pick.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
They'll be picking 3-4 good rookies anyway.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
Why would Robbie not be worth a first round pick when Natanui will probably go in the top 3? Good ruckman are hard to come by - espcially tall and athletic ones - and we've already put 3 years of development into Robbie.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
Josh Carr will get us more than a 3rd round draft pick!

Meat Truck, I don't think we'll get anything for Josh Carr. He'll go to Port in the PSD.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
Why wouldn't we just draft him at pick 3 then? What's he going to do? Retire?

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
there would be little point drafting a player (josh) who doesn't want to be at freo.

For a player worth so much, I would agree that pick 6 swapped for knockers and our second round would be ok.
Would like to think that port may be willing to give up 2nd round pick for Josh, if they actually want him that is. I have a feeling he may be in for a bit of an anxious wait.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
The point would be that your opponent doesn't get him for nothing and no one is going to try and do it again. I don't think he'd go to the pre-season draft but if he did, and Fremantle took him, I reckon he'd take the job and try again the next year.

It would be a much bigger gamble for him than it is for Fremantle. West Coast could do with a good midfielder too.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
If port don't want him enough this season to trade, why would they next year?
there is an element of a gamble in it both ways.
If we grab him before port he may spit the dummy.
Should he not play well next year there will allways be the "didn't want to be here" hanging over him.
If he goes into the draft without a commitment from port he risks being drafted elsewhere.
Without a trade, he is also in a bit of a corner with salary negotiations, as his only choice would be take the offer on the table or take a year off.
I can't see port using a very early pick for him so there are a multitude of possible outcomes.
If port seriously want him and he is serious about going they will trade.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
If Port didn't want him then Port wouldn't have spent the year trying to lure him back to Port Adelaide. I'll forgive you because you've been brain washed by the bloke with the flouncy name over there. The world doesn't have the upper hand on Fremantle.

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
2 options for port then, call our bluff or trade.

I don't listen to a thing Michaelangelo Rucci says.
