Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
Can I ask has any other player who has played less then a H&A seasons worth of games ever attracted so much attention during trade week?

Obviously being tall is just like winning the lottery.

Phil Jackson, NBA coach of the Chicago Bulls & LA Lakers, is attributed with the quote: "You can't coach height."

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
FreoBear - as per my posting I agree with you entirely. Carlton are paying a huge amount (a million+ $) over a 3 year contract and are indicating that Warnock is going to be their number one ruckmen in 2009. How then can they not offer a top 10 draft for this sort of indispensible experienced player? Surely honesty is still a worthy characteristic in negotiations such as this?

Re:So... What Can Carlton Give Us?
The money Carlton offer him doesn't relate to the trade value, although I agree with the sentiment. They're offering him that cash so that he refuses trade options to other clubs. They're actually trying to buy their way out of doing a better deal with us by paying Robbie to refuse to go anywhere else. Smart move if it works.

Thankfully both RFC & MFC can afford it too, whether they want to go that far is yet to be seen.

Our counter to that is to still refuse a below par deal and let him walk to the PSD where he can name his price, but still has to get through MFC, WCE, FFC, Port & Ess before the Blues get a crack at him.

By then clubs may be more willing to pony up the dough because they'll know more about who they have got and what they'll be paying. As the last piece on the list, other clubs will probably be able to fit him in, particularly if they know he'll be there.

It'll be a game of chicken really. We should win it if the Blues are keen on him because as I said elsewhere, letting him go for nothing doesn't really hurt us too much if we play it right.
