Re:reports wafl
when I heard channel nine news saying that Freo had some bad news coming out of the WAFL, I was worried.
Then I heard Mark Johnson was reported...and I stopped worrying.

Re:reports wafl
all of the above.
I thought it might have been Chris Mayne...or someone we care about.

Mark Johnson has been very disapointing.

Re:reports wafl
Sounded like Mayne went well for Perth. Got through the game unscathed and hopefully we'll see him back in Purple next week.

K1W1 kicked 10 for the Falcons! Would have to get a go next week on that form. Murphy out till trade week.

Re:reports wafl
Mark Johnson's been injured for most of the season, Marked. Is that what you mean by 'disappointing'?

I think that's disappointing, too, because we've had no chance to see what he might be able to offer us.

Re:reports wafl
Bit harsh, Marked. As Wizfan notes, he's been out most of the year injured.

Campbell kicked 10? Geez, get him in there while he still fits the youth criteria.

Polly's report - Swan vs East Freo:

A ripper of a game with the Sharks holding out to win by 13. The game was tight but the Sharks put on 4 or 5 in the 3rd Qtr to stage the win.

For the Sharks Dunn ran hard and worked in the play most of the game (a goal or two); Foster linked up and looked the goods; Mourish looked very strong, played some time in the ruck and booted the goal that sealed the fate of the Swans. Peake wasn't on the ground. Teakle's 'up-up-up' mark was the best I've seen for a long time (reckon he got a nose bleed from the elevation).

For the Swans Hinkley was quiet and I'm not sure if Smith and Pratt played at all. Wolfenden is a speedy wiener with a great kick that someone needs to keep an eye on.

The day was dominated by Andy Krakouer's brilliance and endeavor - always a threat he worked the ground like the consummate champ he is. With the Swans down by 4 in the final term it was Krakouer and Garlett who staged the fightback that almost swung the game. Andy's crumbing left foot off the side of the boot while running fill tilt goal would have brought a smile to Purple Jesus' face (it also caused Polly to lean over the boundary and have a whackarooney on the tin advertising sign). If the Dockers need a hard fighting speedy midfielder with lots in the tank and a handful of goals this is the guy to sign - quickly! I'm not overstating this at all....

The Umpire was knocked out and had to be stretched from the ground in the final quarter - happened in the centre square and prompted the biggest cheer of the day.

Good hard football, full strength beer and only a sprinkle of rain to cool down the first rate pies - 10/10 value for money.

Re:reports wafl
Good report Polly, though I listened to some of the final moments of this game on the car radio and heard Peake's named called a few times.

More than 20 possessions by the end of the game is what I thought the stats commentators said, though some of it seemed to be of the: 'into trouble-out of trouble - look out!' type of thing.

Re:reports wafl
chris mayne presented well pushed up the ground to be the link man then ran hard to be an option inside fifty. drop a couple of easy marks. disposal not a grade all the time but trying conditions out there.. claremont oval under water some spots where like a bath tub... Troy cook best on ground

Re:reports wafl
Pollyanna good to see you enjoyed the game at Basso.

Smith played but was fairly quiet (number 39).

unfortunately, Pratt was stretchered off in the reserves last week with a possible broken leg. (Haven't heard anything more about him - obviouly would require too much work for the WA media to find out and report.)
