relevant?
this is good. not only can't pav win a game but he doesn't rate.

lift your game pavlich!

When it was suggested Fremantle's fans deserved to hear the captain's opinion, he said, "They heard me on Channel Nine last night", referring to his lucrative paid weekly segment on the network's nightly news, which was, coincidentally, Perth's lowest-rating news bulletin on Monday night.

According to official ratings, it attracted fewer viewers than a repeat of the comedy Two And A Half Men, Big Brother, Neighbours, Deal Or No Deal and Good News Week.

Re:relevant?
Lucrative? Coincidentally? They spit it when they don't get their way these journalists.

I wonder how many press conferences, over the years, Fremantle have had to put on free grog and a sausage sizzle to get anyone in Melbourne to even show up. Now they're kicking the door down and going into a frenzy to speak to the captain.

We've come a long way baby.

Re:relevant?
I saw a youtube of Harves facing the couch last night...

interesting, after there's been a lot of comment about it, to see for myself. My take on it is that Harves, surprisingly, has no respect for Walls and it showed. Same for Sheehan, not quite as palpable.

I know it can hurt a club when the media turn on it... but I'm happy for Harves, or any coach, to go on that show and display a lack of patience for the patented buffoonery being practised on the couch. I expect we'll see more attacks from the little boy's club which forms the nucleus of the nation's footy press... a club Butler is desperate to join.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest whether it's a reaction for Harvey's performance the other night... it was always coming regardless. Predictable bunch, the little boy's club and it's aspirants.

Re:relevant?
Thanks Guy. I had a look at that too.

Does Walls' always do that - make speeches instead of asking questions?

What does FFC 'stand for'? What is this competition - a political debate a humanitarian NGO? When, where and who else would Walls' ever ask such a dumb, insignificant, loaded question to, apart from Fremantle?

I have no issue with the way he handled that. I have no problem with him talking about losing 6 of our best and then 2 more during the game. Some supporters will see that as excuses, but for the idiots in Victoria who can't tell Ibbotson from Hayden, it was entirely appropriate that he pointed out we were a long way short of putting our best 22 out there. And that showed when pressure was applied, and we essentially lost our back line.

I was amazed at his restraint at stopping himself from ripping their heads off and sticking a football down their necks.

Re:relevant?
what is the culture of channel 10?

what is the culture of The West Australian?

what is the culture of media seagulls?

what is the culture of a bloke who wants to ask pav repeated questions about FFC during a press conference to talk up the 150 game?

Re:relevant?
I thought it was the "who cares? cup" on Sunday - why do they suddenly care about Freo, these fickle hacks? Don't worry yourselves about us or what Freo 'stands for', we're fine thanks. Just keep talking on your panels and couches (late at night because no-one cares) because talk is cheap and the easiest thing in the world.

Harves survived the petulant ambush very well.

Like the rats that they are, sports 'journalists' swarm in packs. Funnily enough, I would have thought that more attention would have been paid to Benny Boy's ringning endorsement from a Perth identity.

Re:relevant?
Smith is the written version of Wall's goosenes. I like how he's researched the arse out that article only to offer this nugget...

West Coast is working through what no other club has endured. The players' self-respect has withered after 18 months of constant criticism, investigation and introspection. The players have the yips, unprepared to commit to actions because they fear the consequences - any consequences.

Yah think? I can think of another club that has endured 14 years of it Patrick. Why is no one taling about what a bunch of pussies the WC are for not being hard enough to endure a bit of what we have? The reason the heat is on so fiercly this year is becasue all the Vic teams are either cranking, or fair to middling, and they've got nothing else to write about.

It's all good and well shooting the messenger but when is someone going to give us some answers to the underlying problem - What is Pavlich doing to get more people to watch Dixie Marshall read the news?

Can anyone tell me what it means when Walls asked "What does Fremantle FC stand for?" WTF kind of a question is that?

Do we know what any of the other 15 teams/clubs stand for?
