Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
As long as we keep drafting interstate kids we run this risk. Can't blame the kid, we know it's a likely outcome when we draft them.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
needaflag,
if he goes into the draft, the club that picks him up will offer him a salary. If he chooses not to accept this he is without a club.

If he is traded, he can choose to go to the club that is offering the best salary, as long as they are offering a trade that freo finds acceptable.

i'm with you polly and to further the question who would want to come here.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
we can so blame the kid. Its the afl...not the vfl. If he wants the rewards of the afl...he should take the responsibility. I think he owes us 2-3 years at least.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
This has been on the cards all year and telegraphed pretty clearly, too...

the test of the bloke and his management in our eyes, is what sort of deal they're prepared to let us be part of... and he'd hardly want to nominate for the draft and run the risk of ending up back here on base pay.

Totally agree about the mongrel, Stevedore.

robbie is a closet karaoke singer and a fashionista. he was quoted as saying "if the club had a better song, decent colours and no anchor I would have stayed."

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
So we are a nursery for future champs and a nursing home for retirees?

Gator you may have a point.

Big investment gone. Another gamble that didn't pay off.

Seems like a feeble excuse to me though. He probably wants to flash his wallet in his old stomping ground.

Tastes bitter, this one.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
Of course you can blame the kid. Wuss all the way as far as I'm concerned. This was his test of character - learn to play the game better so that you dominate at WAFL level, force your way into the seniors and earn a regular game and be consistent and part of something big. To help grow the club and make it strong off your own back. Instead, he nicked off at the earliest opportunity to get big bucks without proving himself even as a big time player who could dominate at even WAFL level. As far as I'm concerned he's still a project player who _may_ develop into something big, but hasn't yet. The biggest knock on him is that he doesn't have the engine to last the distance - 4 solid quarters of consistency. Let's face it, he couldn't even force himself to be Sandi's partner-in-crime and it's saying something when Kepler (who's only a pinch hitter) is the better option as a second ruck.

Pav passed the test. This kid failed it, big time.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
Bit harsh...

the guy plays in comp that finds it increasingly difficult to reward loyalty and he has a limited time to make his money and get out... why wouldn't he choose to do it where he's comfortable? Living in Perth is an acquired taste, believe me... a young bloke might be more attracted to the big city lifestyle.

so what?

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
I understand he's very popular with the tranny brigade (although I think they changed their name to the Bulldogs in the 70's some time).

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
No problem. We should get a good trade or pick. We only want blokes who want to play fo us.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
Second fiddle to Sandilands...now he wants to be near mummy and play second fiddle to Kruezer.

What erks me though is we pick up these twigs as late picks because everyone else thinks they will take to long to develop, then they end up elsewhere after we've trained them and beefed em' up.

How many ruckman have we lost over the years

White
Burton
Snake
Warnock

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
He's only played 21 games for us.

We don't even know if he's any good.

Well... we've got a bit of an idea, I s'pose.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
We picked him up as a very late pick, which by nature is a bit of a gamble that he would be any good. If we let him go for a first round draft pick, not a bad deal for us really.

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
Of course this will be portrayed in the Docker Despising media as an indication of "cultural problems" at the Dockers. The old "rats desserting a sinking ship" syndrome. I continue to hope (maybe foolishly) that David Mundy stays. One thing's for sure people like Chris Bond etc need to be on the ball so Freo get an "equivalent" trade for Warnock. An early or priority pick is a must. They need to be tough on this. Please avoid the McPhee = pick 56 and virtually nothing for Medders outcome. Why are the Dockers always dudded in trading? Similarly Josh Carr is not a give away as Williams would like him to be.

Gator, if we stop drafting interstate kids, we also run the risk of passing up guys like Pav.

How good is that pick 69 from last year looking now?

Re:Warnock Wants To Go Home
Warnock has already had talks with the Richmond Football Club obviously prior to his announcement today.
Lower than a Snakes Belly in my book if the report on the TV media is correct.
Once again we at Freo lose out with another uncontracted footballer deciding to either go home or to be traded back to a former club.
When these players make a decision to leave and they state " I want the best possible trade for Freo" why don't they sign a contract with FFC so we can them make sure we have the upper hand as a footy club at the Trade table especially when we put the money, resources, training & time etc on these blokes.
Therefore this would guarantee FFC of getting a top draft pick and or player.
Give back to the club that put so much resources into them in the beginning.
I'm just really angry at the moment with what's going on with certain Freo players.
I would like to also see if we can get the Guernsey No. 34 burnt, as we have been burnt by those who have both worn jumper No. 34.
Hopefully Warlock will have a similar career to White fizzled out after leaving Freo, it was said he will be the next big named ruckman.
