Like this comment by murph..

"In terms of team goals and my personal goals there will be an opportunity to have a really good crack,"

So what was his crack like before ?

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
Some on this board will think not, Mr Smiley. Even though you've lifted sarcasm to an art form of Ken Done proportions.

The only thing that's a let down in this whole fracas, is that Murphy is staying.

And doing what exactly?

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
That hurt, Drubbing.

Ken Done... I am back in a nightmare world populated by bright yellow tableclothes peppered with little dinky yachts in red and blue, with thousands of cresting wavelets in white filling the spaces. Every table in the cheery lightfilled beachside cafe is covered in these things and somewhere, in silhoutte against the blinding Sydney sun and white sand, is Jenny Kee in frizz and bright red spectacles.

With diamantes.

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
You have to take your stetson off to Murph, don't you.

He's been a major disappointment trying to convert WAFL form to AFL and if anyone couldn't be blamed for going home it's him. With Cambo taking his place most recently and looking like banging another nail in the coffin, the bloke must have thought he was headed for nowhere with Freo...home must have been looking attractive.

Copping sprays all over the place including here from Freo supporters would have been more reason to think of the Yarra. There's no doubt he could have been traded to a Vic side if he'd wanted. Clubs like the Bullies or even Collingwood would have taken a punt on a forward.

But the bloke deserves our support for sticking around and is obviously determined to give it his best shot, unlike Campbell, who looked set to claim a permanent spot next season.

Gotta say I am one who thought he'd be better off being traded, both for himself and the club, but it'd sure be nice and a just reward if he could make his mark next season.

Onya Murph, and show us we were wrong!

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
C'mon Oos, you didn't slip in any Silicon Chimp references. I was sure you'd get something in there.

You're right though, he does deserve to be applauded for his decision. He could've gone very easily and has decided to put his nose down fo us. Good on him.

He now also needs to get his crack in order and show it to us on the field.

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
Good to see both of them sign up. Saw footy classified saying about our vic exodus and mentioned how players have left and gone on to be very good players the next year. It would be good to see both of these players really take off next year and even more the year after.

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
The Silicon Chimp next to his bed said
No, you won’t go home
And Murphy’s gonna stick around here too
Coz Freos about to explode
Hackdorn didn’t understand it
Coz he said that they were gonna go
And he can see no reason
But there are good reasons
Many reasons we’ll be good as gold, gold, oh oh oh
That is why
We all love Mundy
That is why
We all love Mundy-y-y
That is why
We all love Mundy
He didn’t blow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow
Out of town, town, town
He stayed in town!!

Thats what Bob and the Rats would be singing now if they weren't all buggered up and everything.

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
I think I'm going to pop Mission Man's aneurysm.

He's been a dud for 18 months, yet we love him because he wants to stay. Did anyone else want him?

And Footy Classified turning out the 'once they leave freo they're world beaters' carp? Recent examples:- Simmonds - average. Shortmuir - delisted. Medhurst - a purple patch or two in a otherwise average season, in a team that did well and plays 18 games at homes.

But don't let that sway the media from telling us how great his now now Mick's "knocked the purple out of him"

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
Matty T, Medhurst just got the token 'former Freo player who had an ok year' AA spot. If he'd come from anywhere else, we would never have heard of him.

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
Maybe we can just attack the source of the orginal "story" then...

Apologies to Don McLean & the last bit of American Pie

I can’t remember if I cried
The day I heard the fat knob’s lies
He said we were gonna say goodbye
But again
The fat knob
Lied

I met the knob who reads the news
And I asked him why in hell he would choose
To make up crap instead of tell the truth

He said he didn’t have the heart
To do research or something smart
And the eagles, wouldn’t let him stick arou-ound.

I went down to the sacred store
To get the real news, to get the score
And the man there said Mundy was gonna stay-ayy

In Freo’s streets the children screamed.
The women cried and the poets dreamed
But the fat knob said he was telling new-ews

We started singing
Bye Bye to the fat knob’s lies?
All the time he lies and he’s off his dial
How many days now til he gets fired?
Why does, the fat knob,
Lie?.

Yes, good news on both counts - and congratulations to all Dockerlanders for not bringing up Kiwi (as yet) in a discussion that includes Murphy:

Re:Mundy and Murphy here to stay
Sorry. Are we holding up the AA selection process as the uncompromised, searing intellect of former players who have no bias or agenda whatsoever?

Then why all the indignation at Pavlich being benched?

Medhurst is better than Pavlich. That's optimism right there, sunshine.
