4th in repeat sprints 2nd in height 3rd heaviest 1st standing vertical leap 1st (and matched best ever) running vertical leap 4th in 20 metre sprint
And this is against the best young talent in Australia. oh, and he's got more tackle than your average fisherman.
need I utter the phrase "still growing"?
love the naiter. go on, love him.

Okay, okay, but consider Hill:
7th (equal) in repeat sprints (only 1/3 of a sec behind NN) 1st (record) in agility 3rd (equal) in standing vertical jump, 6cm behind NN 3rd in 20m sprint
Obviously Naitanui's stats are a little more impressive given his size. But will you still love him in eagles colours?

From those stats no mention of Rich but De Bour gets plenty but another here said he can't kick. I think the toasters will take NN and we should be thinking who is next.

lets face it just about every team in the comp will get a potential star with there first pick, i think NN is a good choice for us now that the nock has gone he can be our dean cox, we still have enough good picks to further boost the midfield if needed

Fresh into town last night from the skull scorching heat of the desert and the coffee gossip this morning reveals the following speculative matter...
The Toast suspect the Dees will take Natanui with the first pick. Call that a smokey. While everone expects them to take Watts, perhaps their ruck stocks have them speculating wildly... it's nothing new for them to make an odd decision.
If that's the case, they'll take Rich and we're known to be keen on Hill. While Watts is very highly rated, there's a huge gamble on taking on a guaranteed homesick boy.
Someone had some juicy gossip here a while back about Rich being given Chook membership but the coffee grounds tell me he's always been a fan and his family are all members, so perhaps that was a smokey, I dunno. The coffee had made me dizzy by then.

The thing about all those measurements at the Draft Camp is that none of them is an indicator of football smarts. I have said it before but lest we forget - Daniel Bandy could run and jump with the best of them.

I too worry that Melbourne will not pick the most clearly talented player in the draft: Watts. Potentially robbing Freo of a WA player they wanted.
I worry that the marketing factor of Natanui will tempt some of their key decision makers who, politey putting it, possess more of a marketing bent to their administrative style.

So to summerise - even though he's gone and the draft hasn't happened, it's all Schwab's fault.

The thread is about predicting the future and in doing that it's prudent to revisit the past. But if you think even he couldn't stuff this one up, I say you may well be right.

How many assumptions can you fit in one small post?
i) That the Chupa will be there at 3. If we had pick 1, you'd have a base to work off.
ii) That the Chupa is being marketed over his ability. These blokes are 17-18, everyone of em's a punt.
iii) That our admin is marketing focussed. Based on what? That Schwab left a constitution for FFC to follow? That Rosich was his first choice? That the job of CEO is actually to extract money from potential sponsors? That selecting the Chupa, if he was still there at 3, would make any difference to those sponsors?
iv) Predicting the future based on the past. If we were taking the current stock market as an example, what time frame is relevant to the hypothetical of the Rosich / Chupster/ pick 3 trifecta argument - yesterday, last week, last year, that really good week in 2006 just before the slide, when everyone's Super actually looked like it had some money in it?

guy - twas I who had posted the rumour regarding Rich and his foul membership. What was interesting (if it was true) wasn't so much that the membership existed, it was that his had been included as part of the players allocations for next year.
As shane mentions, if Watts doesn't go #1 then it will be a serious surprise. Especially if you remember that he didn't nominate for the draft until after "considerring the chances of having to move interstate". With 3 clubs in the top 4 being outside of Vic, I'd suggest that he wouldn't have nominated this year unless he was very sure of what was going to happen.
I may be wrong but I also recall that he had a meeting with MFC not long before nominating for this years version.

Mercury my point was:
1/Watts is the best young talent in this draft end of story, no punt.
2/I still want Chupa to play for Freo cause he is a WA boy and I love the way he plays football. And I don't want the risk of getting a Vic who does a Warnock.
3/ Chups' undeniable marketability would appeal to Schwabb: who did he take when Freo last had the number 1 pick (and over whom)?
Natanui is right for Freo and Watts is right for Melbourne. But I don't trust him to do what's right. I worry a little about that - yeah!
