Re:Do we pick up carr?
Responding to the second question. In no particular order, here are some of the top prospects for the draft:

Watts
Hartlett
Natanui
Rich
Pearce
Hill
Jetta
Yarran
Ballantyne
DeBoer
Swift
Tyrone Vickery (Vic)
Shaun McKernan (Vic)
Lewis Johnston (SA)
Ayce Cordy (Bulldogs – pick 14)
Steele Sidebottom (Vic)
Ashley Smith (Vic)
Rory Sloane (Vic)
Tom Lynch (Vic)
Michael Hurley (Vic)
Jack Ziebell (Vic)

And click here for the full list of draft camp attendees.

These are all good players so even if the ones you mentioned aren’t available we can still get 2 good players in the second round.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
If I'd seen this during the week I would have said no.

This morning I rewatched the second derby from 2007 ... YES !!

Re:Do we pick up carr?
The beauty of picking up Josh Carr is that you'd screw Port Adelaide over, who would hopefully then be forced to screw Carlton over by taking the player they were waiting on.

So it wouldn't just be fun, it would be good value too.

The only negative I can think of is that it doesn't in anyway adversely effect the Eagles. Which should really be part of any plan. Maybe we could put Josh on a collective bargaining agreement or something.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Do you reckon he'd be interested in running on a Liberal ticket for Bishop's seat as compensation for staying in WA?

Re:Do we pick up carr?
While I can only see a perverse madness in taking him back to spite the Bogan and Port, It would adversely affect the eagles - as we'd only play him twice a year, with plenty of time in between to serve out the suspensions.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Drubbing, I like the way you think. That hadn't actually occurred to me.

I was thinking that Bogan's bet asset was winding up Run Benny Run, but now he's gone, the spark seems to have gone out his play. If we do pick him up, can we use one of our PSD picks to send Run Benny Run back to the slime? Its worth the sacrifice in my view.

And yes Drub, I have also rewatched that Derby. Just love the bit where Run Benny Run gives away that stupid 50 meter right on three quarter time...almost my favourite part of the game!

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Shane/Drubbing, don't forget if we grab Carr, he'll be living in WA instead of SA ... so the budgies won't only have to worry about playing Josh twice a year, they'll be $hitting themselves 24/7 !

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Name me a player that does what Josh does and I would say draft him. The simple fact is no one can, no one will and if he's available then sign him. The game hasn't past these guys by - the game has had an identity crisis.

Sign Josh - put the number 2 on him, let's play hard ball - this 'insey-winsey-spider' thing is for the birds (literally).

As Mr T says: Get Some Nuts (which equals) sign Josh.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
If I could put in my two bits worth. JC served this club well. He went in hard and gave me plenty of memories. His brother MC like a few others at the end of the season seemed to slip out the back door. Do we all really know what happened behind the scenes. If I saw my fellow work colleagues treated in a certain fashion it might make me re think my future. The other player commonly known as Purple Jesus is also another case in point. Get off Josh's back for all the Derbies he's played in I thank him and wish him well.

Swings and roundabouts folks. Last year Essendon wanted to do a deal with us on the Kepler but we waiting till the draft and got him for nix with pick 74.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
No. We offered Essendon a trade and they didn't want it. Then they delisted him and we took him in the draft at a later pick they was offered in the trade.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
If Carps was still premier we might have been able to pick him up under the hoon laws and crushed him.

Shane are you sure. That sounds a little contradictory. Mind you my info came from a phanton draft call.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Allison - showing (now undeserved) respect for J. Carr is one thing, allowing the ethically challenged Choco Williams to get Carr for nothing is another. Lets give Choco one in the guts. Remember also he has a player named "Chad" in his team. Another reason to whack him between the eyes. Metaphorically of course. I'm not a violent person.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
If we actually wanted him, why would we need to draft him and waste a pick? Couldn't we just pay him some tempting amount to re-sign for another year?

Cyclopes
The way I see it is J Carr is out of contract with Freo and has given us notice that he want to move to Adelaide with his wife and play with Port. Port have expressed interest but did not offer any draft picks last week for him hoping to get him for nothing in the PSD. choco from port screwed him over by not offering anything for him last week and expects to get him for nothing. Josh was our Vice Capt and a bloody good one, we should grab him and offer a decent wage in the PSD and if he is a footballer he will play. If he doesnt play then its curtains for him

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Larkin, Shane's recall is the way I remember it... Knights stuffed that deal up for the Bombres..

Bluepup's right that Josh wants to head back for personal reasons.. his partner is from there. Far enough... but footy's a business and we have to play hard or perish. If Choco doesn't want to trade, he places Josh at risk of being drafted elsewhere including here...and we have the pick before them.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
I'm a softie when it comes to these sorts of things, my thinking is that if he doesn't want to be here why should you make him and surely under those circumstances you would at least take the VC off him. We have certainly lost a lot of experience this year and we will miss him to some extent but as that old saying goes all for one and one for all and he's not playing that game anymore from what we hear.

Re:Do we pick up carr?
Yes it would screw Port but first of all lets see who is up for grabs. There were a few players out of contract who missed out on trades. It would screw us if we wasted our pick on Carr and let some other club pick up a decent player.
