Just read on the herald sun website that Port will offer nothing for Josh as they are confident of picking him up for nothing in the preseason draft. I hope we threaten to pick him up with our preseason pick and make Josh sit out the year... Chocco's a swine, it's probably not a threat he will try it on.

We should have room in the salary cap to make him into a WAFL player if Port want to play it like that. This is not a smart way to do business on Port's part - people will refuse to do business with you if you do not act reasonably.

as he is not under contract wouldn't he only be eligible for minimum salary if we redrafted him?

get the little prick and mark the appropriate paperwork to get him playing for Peel Thunder for a year. Would do him good to suck it in and endure a little humility.

Reported on Channel 10 tonight that Josh didn't turn up to the Doig. Is this correct? Also they couldn't talk trades as he hasn't been there to discuss. hmm sounds like Josh has a plan.

Has anyone seen him since he announced he was deserting? Should we dredge the harbour?

I think its time to threaten Josh and Port that we will redraft him in round 6,7 or 8 at the selection immediately before Port and put him on minimum wages. The PSD we have pick 3 they have 4 - we get him then. I know its not much use having a bloke on the list that doesnt want to be there but nothing a bit of early success couldnt turn around....we just cant be pushed around after giving up 3 picks for him 4 years ago and lose him for nothing!!
Worst case he may get on th eblower to Choco and plead to trade with us. Cmon Josh - You owe us mate

I think a dredging is needed, then maybe a public stoning.

I hope Freo don't play nice on this one. We gave him his dream to play with his brother, and paid a pretty big price to let him do it. Maybe we could redeem ourselves a little in the eyes of the AFL world if we play hard ball (not that we care about that stuff, though, right?).
As for dredging... you never know what you might find... (though I thought of Dion Woods... don't know why).

Josh's attitude and behaviour has been disappointing in all this to say the least. He received tremendous support from all Dockers fans. As far as I know the club treated him well in every respect. Time for him to say to Williams lets be reasonable about the trade. Having said that if he goes into the PSD and shows disrespect for every Docker we should take him ahead of Port. What sort of a person is Williams? The man has no self-respect.

Does anyone know the rules on the PSD? My understanding was that the players can put a price on their head and teams have to consider that when they pick them up. In fact, I think we threatened to get Josh to nominate a front-ended contract to price out the people who went before us in the PSD when Port were being unreasonable. We came to the party tho.
Maybe Williams is just having a bit of fun with us because of it and will give us something later in the week but I'm sure it won't be much. If not, I would love to pick him up in the PSD for the hell of it and make him not play. The player's assoc will go berserk.
The problem is that there will probably be a player worth getting at in the PSD when it is our turn to choose.

Easy guys. This is just a job and people sometimes have family commitments. He served us well while he was here. His wife is a crow eater and she has crows to eat.

It's not the leaving, it's the way you leave larkin.
Josh couldn't even wait 24 hours after the last game to bail.
He didn't have the courtesy to attend the Doig Medal.
He doesn't have the courtesy to make himself available for a medical assessment by his club of choice.
I guess we can blame his girlfriend for all of that too can we?

If Port aren't interested, I trust the powers that be are having discussions with the Crows?

the real crime is not what we cannot get now for Josh but what Clownolly & Schwabb paid. Mark Johnson was better than Josh towards the end......As much as I loved Belly , Schammers improvement & our increased clearances came after he departed
lets face it what would we pay for Josh now!!!!!

Josh is worth a second round pick.
He will start in your 22 every week to pick up and nullify a dangerous opposition midfielder.

It could be a very feisty match against port next season. We have had our run ins with them in the past and I assume the club will have a bit of a strained relationship, if any, with Josh and Port if nothing is offered for him. No doubt Josh will be up for a bit of niggle but I would love to see Crowley or Solly get a good, CLEAN hip and shoulder in. I am sure Josh will target Palmer and the team better stand up for him. It would really set an example for the rest if Palmer was actually the one that cleaned Carr up.

Trade him to the Crows for pick number 100 and something, then don't use the pick. If we look like getting nothing for him, at least have the pleasure if sticking it up Choco's smarmy derriere.

It's correct that Carr nominates the terms and conditions of his next contract prior to being re-drafted, so no-one can draft him and then put him on "minimum wage." (Incidentally that's a pretty funny way of describing any of the AFL pay scales). I'm not sure, however, what would happen if Fremantle were to trade him to a team other than Port (say, in line with the situation described by DS above), and then that team were to decide not to even bother to sign him to any contract at all (the only fly in the ointment of DS's "solution," would be that Adelaide would potentially have to pay him, and so would need to actually value him).
I personally think a whole lot of it should come down to Carr himself. One would hope that he would respect Fremantle enough to indicate to Port that they need to compensate Fremantle for his departure. It wouldn't exactly be a ringing endorsement of his quality as a person if he is prepared to do the dirty on the club, especially after a fair bit must have been paid to lawyers defending his stupidity before the tribunal over the past few years.
We'll see how it plays out.
