Freo lose a very winnable game by a kick and a bit. Give up an early lead. A lot of silly turnovers along with Jeffrey's momentum swinging brain fade. Please tell me 2009 will be worth looking forward to. This team is doing my head in.

no nothing new...would have predicted it though. Richmond had far more to play for. Gave us some hope but faded again. it's not their fault though that the runner Prior gave away a free kick resulting in a goal. Jeff does some stupid things doesn't he!!!
Positive news, Duffield was very impressive with his delivery and composure, centre clearances are improving, Rog is a star and Palmer never gives up!!!

David Mundy still thinks it is not his responsibility to chase the man with the ball.

Remember with Port winning v Melbourne, it looks like we can choose Natanui (if we want him) - so mission accomplished.

No it doesn't. I also enjoyed the game.
You must be proud of that Kiwi boy Mr Smiley. He really has a bit of the mongeral in him and apart from that miss for goal had a good game.
As for nothing new, well I guess I must have been watching the wrong game because I saw a lot of new players like Drum, Duffield, Ibbotson and Palmer doing some very good things. And Sandilands beat the pants of that traitor Simmonds who, as I recall left Fremantle because he didn't want to play in the ruck anymore. Well, guess what Simmo when you sell you soul to the devil you play to his tune.

Looks like both Port and Melbourne are trying very hard to lose now. Almost 20 minutes in the third quarter between goals with eight behinds in between. Awful football.

I was impressed with Campbell, Addicted. Again. He's got the mongrel in him alright.
The one thing that annoyed me in the game was the holding it up tactics at the end of the quarters. I dunno why we do it and it irrits me... I hope it's all about learning to control tempo or something esoteric like that.

If you look as tired as they do in the last quarter, compared to your opponent, you need all the rest you can get. The fitness bloke needs to have, or stop having, a good hard look at himself.

Bet me bottom dollar that's the last time we see an "Oh Jeffrey" moment.

I enjoyed the game and it was going fine apart from the runner and a couple of silly turnovers. Duffield was great today along with Macca, Sandilands and Palmer. Caampbell must stay now after his performance and once he settled in a bit Bradley wasn't too bad. Overall I think they played well as a team. Be glad when it's next year but like everyone I say THAT every year.

I agree Addicted. Our boys were in there for the long haul, and really there was not a fadeout in the last quarter. The young blokes were great, Sandi - amazing, and Hayden was brilliant! Crowley is amazing - he deserved best on ground! He runs his guts out. The only disappointment was Jeffrey's "brain fadeout".
We would have won with Pav!

Agree with most that was said above. I am sure I saw another runner in the 50 at another point in the game - must have been one of theirs. I wonder how Mayne would go on dexies. Would it sharpen his focus?

I agree there was a lot to like, in spite of the obligatory last quarter fade out. Campbell has real presence and Murphy should take note. Duffield was terrific, Hayden's grabs in the third quarter were brilliant and gutsy, Palmer his usual 100% effort, and Mayne chases better than anyone. Dare I say, we do look good for next year, and with a couple of good draft picks plus Hase and Des fit, anything's possible.

Dead right, g.o. Jeffrey tries but the trademark trickster acts just don't impress any more. No good trying to be clever if only one in ten comes off. May not play next week after the "accidental" knee to the head.
All in all though, an entertaining and exciting match with plenty of promise. We may have won with a fully fit Pav, but in his absence there was an impressive spread of goalkickers again.
Was proud of the boys. If they can just learn to pull off a close win.

Before Johno #2 leaves we would appreciate him passing along some advice about tackling - especially to Ibbo, Drum, Duffer, Mundy, Johno #1, Thornton, Peake....well, just about everyone (except for Jeff, Solly and Josh).
One would have thought that the last part of the season was touch football - yesterday was the worst.
