I often refer to Freo as mental as anything and my personal view that this is biggest hurdle for the club to overcome somehow.
We have all heard the cliches before, It's skill, it's umpiring, it's the older players etc etc etc etc. It is all of these things combined which usually occur at a time when suddenly they are challenged and need to believe that they will rise to the challenge (media, pressure, errors)and actually win.
It is mental as anything. When you get to that mental state as we all know from our own day to day lives, you tend to get and do everything wrong. It is a strange Phenomena but it is true in more than just sport. You seem to slog your guts out all the time and yet it rarely seems to go your way... To those people out there who say Freo should just get over it and start winning (blah blah blah), if it was simple those people would be billionare coaches who never lost a game.
I do beleive that this non winning culture is changing under Mark Harvey at the club and I admire the fact that similar losses over the last few months could rip the heart and soul out of any player and team. We still go out there and give it all we've got like we did today. Perhaps we aren't top 8 at the moment and hey well that's footy isnt it. I am and will always be a docker and a supporter of the underdog ( and no this is not just accepting mediocrity for those critics. It is supporting the team).
