II) I'm a bit sick of this 'recycling old hacks' theory. What have we given up? Tarrant(27) we gave a high pick and Medders but Taz is not too old and has plenty to give the side. Soloman(27) was a nothing pick that would have been wasted. He's also been one of our best players since he came over, obviously a fantastic choice by the recruiting staff. Mark Johnson(29) has given the side much more than a late draft pick in one of the weakest drafts could have, even if a lot of it is off field. Kepler(22) is not old and will give us a much better option than a useless rd 385 draft pick.

III) 5 years ago all sides were very different with the game very different to what it is now. In 2003 a running side was still an idea and so our key position players were running amok. We had JLo dominating and a fully fit Hase who was one of if not the best midfielders in the competition. To say we were looking good that year and then decided to do nothing until now is ignorant and useless. Many things got in the way and sometimes we weren't up to scratch.

IV) The media are wankers. Don't listen to them. Are they involved in the club? No. Do they want what's best for the club? No. What do they want? A news story, for their previous cliches and opinions to come true, to see Freo struggle. What are they gonna do then? Keep making up crap and telling us what we should do.

I trust Harvs and co know what they are doing. I also thought initially once we lost Hase our chances of a premiership were severely damaged and I'll admit to wanting a decent draft pick or 2 for an attack on the flag next year. My expectations for the season aren't too high after that so I'm not particularly worried about the side. If only the corporate entity up the road weren't tanking so well...

Idiot Walls asks Harvey the question of why he allowed Fremantle to pick up Tarrant & Solomon. If the hack had done any research he would have known that Harvey was not the coach when those trades happened.
No wonder some coaches shut up shop when they get asked stupid questions.

Ellement, Harvey was asked some similar questions on Footy Classified too and he tried to explain that he wasn't the one calling the shots then - of course it fell on deaf ears.

Craig Hutchison really annoyed me with his questions regarding JCarr and Harvey mentioned that what Carr did was in response to the treatment he was getting form Geelong. Hutchy then carried on "Why, what happened to him?" etc, but that was exactly Harvey's point - NO ONE actually bothers to look at what happens to Carr - they only scrutinise what he does to others (which, yes he should stop doing - we've been over this before).

I for one thought Harves was fine. As a few have mentioned he is not a seasoned media performer and he has said that all along. Hutchison asked asked what I thought were dumb obvious questions and Harves refused to be drawn into their fantasies about what is bad at Freo. Good on him I say.

Yes we have only won one game, but when are the vic media going to grill Dean Bailey or Matthew Knights over recruiting/trading over the past ten years? Are they "under the pump". Geez Louise the guy has only been coaching for seven games this year and he has had to coach against 5 teams that went well into finals last year.

Melb and Richmond were rubbish performances i agree, but Harvey didn't coach them to be bad.

To be a journeyman you must play at atleast 4 clubs and must be no better than average.

Scott Cummings was a servicable journeyman.

Dean Solomon was the draft pick of the century - I hope he head butts the lot of 'em (either one at a time, or all together in a pack).

Clement may well have been a good player at Collingwood BUT did they win a flag during his time there - nope!

I'm getting sick of it too, but I agree with Taz. We are just a soft target for the East Coast media. Hutchy would never try that crap with Malthouse coz Eddie would have his fat blad head in a vice quicker than he can say "talentless hack tabloid journalist".

I think Freo should do like Geelong a couple of years ago and just shut up shop. Don't do interviews and media events at all!

No Mike you have it wrong. The media might be base, ill informed, have a pack mentality and so often insult our intelligence with its self serving drivel - but it is important to front them and make a good impression at every opportunity.
