Is there going to be enough?
Given the rate at which our senior players are retiring and the desire to drop off a few of our lesser lights, is there going to be enough "quality" players in the up coming draft for us to pickup/
Just how many draft selections do you think we will use at the draft?
Could we still be drafting around picks 80-90?

Geez... If I nominate for the Draft, I could be playing in the purple, too. All my dreams could come true!

(Well okay - not all of them. Some dreams I can't mention here. Mostly those involving throttling Mr Smiley with a pink cardigan.)

Re:Is there going to be enough?
For what its worth, here’s my take.

Definitely gone = 5
Black, Bell, Carr, Macca, Johnno Ma

Questionable = 10
Warnock, Murphy, Webster, Browne, Gilmore, Thornton, Campbell, Farmer, Duffield, Peake

My Changes
Trade Murphy for a pick under 40
Trade Warnock for a pick under 18
Delist Webster (so sad), Browne (ditto), Gilmore
Re-sign Wiz (1 yr)
Keep Thornton (only just) and the rest on the above list.

That would mean 10 changes to the list which is heaps. Mundy may bolt , if so trade him for anything under 20 too.

Excluding Mundy, that is 10 picks in either of the drafts. I’d use 8 in the main draft and then use the balance in the preseason. I think this year there will be some reasonable players in the PSD as the other clubs get a bit vicious in the de-listings and look to load up prior to GC17’s entry.

To answer the question as to are there enough? It makes no matter, there is certainly more this year than there will be next so off we go.

I too now have a dream of seeing Merc throttling Mr Smiley with a pink cardigan. Nothing against guy but by crikey that would make good watching. Surely the first time a pink cardie was able to be used for anything. Actually any sort of Cardy now I think about it.

Re:Is there going to be enough?
Of course there will be enough. I think there are well over a thousand kids that nominate for the draft each year. At best, a hundred-odd will get picked.

The questions is not quantity, it's quality. Once we start getting into our tenth pick we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Or taking punts on "project players".

Things are going to get worse before they get better. But they will get better.

And watch what you say about cardigans.

Here's a couple of French rugby players (Stade Francais club)

Feel better now, Merc?

They've got many more clothes on than the French rugby players I've seen on the internerd.

Begs the question, who on our rookie list is worth upgrading from Connelly, Dunn, Mourish, Pratt and Smith. And will the ones who aren't look good in pink.
